The hosts were very accommodating. We arrived at the location over 2 hours before check-in time but that was "no problem" and we got right in. The directions given from the airport were easy to follow and the instructions to get in the garden level apartment were simple. The location is within walking distance from everything that you could possibly need. The apartment looks just like the pictures posted. The only possible complaint we had was that someone appeared to be doing laundry and coming in and out of the apartment. But our bedroom area was never disturbed. Overall it was a great first experience and I would recommend staying with these hosts!
Location is great, easy access to Brooklyn, Manhattan & JFK. Check-in went fine, sheets, towels, kitchen all clean and in good order, owners responded quickly to questions, though an FAQ sheet about how things work would be welcome. Apartment itself is ok, not amazing. The minus points - things like (very) drafty windows that need weatherstripping, shower controls that need replacing, and the need for a general spruce-up - could easily be taken care of & would make it a much more attractive proposition.
Overall, our experience at Tanya & Toni's place was great!! The place looks exactly as it's seen in the pictures, it's clean, smells clean, it's perfectly warm during the winter and the Wi-Fi worked without any problems. The backyard adds an extra cosy touch to it all... we think it'll be even better during warmer days.
We also loved the amenities available, including fresh, clean towels and sheets, hair dryer, (I have very long thick hair and in winter, it was a lifesaver for me!!), soaps, a working microwave, fridge, and even though we never used them, a washing machine and tumble dryer. The bed was also really comfy and really, really warm!!
A big plus: The subway is just a short walk away and that'll get you basically anywhere in the city!! :)
The only thing that had us a bit worried when we arrived, was that the wrong set of keys were in the lockbox, so we weren't able to get in the apartment as soon as we arrived at the building. Luckily, the Wi-Fi was working, and we were able to message our hosts. Toni arrived a few minutes later with the right set of keys and kindly apologized for the inconvenience.
The apartment was exactly as described. It was quiet, comfortable, clean and uncluttered with a nice bathroom next door. Would definitely stay there again when I visit my son.Toni was quickly reachable by text when I had a question.
The room is clean, conveniently located and well-priced. The self check-in process was clear and very useful as well!
My stay in the Garden Suite was great. I used the apt as a center point for my apartment search in the area. Restaurants, transportation and shopping are all nearby—great location. The apartment is clean and as described.
As other reviewers have said, this apartment is in the perfect location, both in Brooklyn and easy to get into Manhattan.
The apartment is exactly as advertised - clean and perfect for a weekend get-away.
Good communication before and during the trip.
The location is really good. Atlantic AV-Barclay Centre & Lafayette AV stations are within 5min walking. There are shops open till late night, big shopping mall's near too.
The room was a big enough size for single or couple occupancy but having no separate kitchen is the only thing that I find it a bit odd.
Location, Location, Location! This was my first Airbnb stay, and I didn't quite know what to expect. The space was nice, it was was clean, and met my standards. We loved the location of where this unit was comparable to the subway station, and it made getting around so convenient. We had little actually interaction with Tanya and Toni, and frankly, we were fine with that. The unit was there for us to sleep in as we had a packed schedule on our trip. Overall, it was a great experience, and much better than I anticipated.
The most positive thing about the apartment was the position, close to the Atlantic Avenue subway. We stayed there 6 days in two couples.
The first problem we have signaled to the host was that the apartment (especially the bathroom) was pretty cold because of the old and drafty windows. We asked for a portable heater as soon as we checked in, and every day after that, but unfortunately the host brought it to us only on the very last day. It wasn't pleasant at all to stay January in NY in a drafty apartment.
Then, to make matter worse, the light went off in the morning of the second day because a blown fuse and, despite many calls, we received answer only in the afternoon, luckly we met a neighbour that helped us with the fuse (the light box was locked).
About the rooms, the smaller one has a squeaky bed and was pretty impossible to have a goodnight sleep.
The apartment was fully equipped, pretty clean and the wifi good, but paying 200 euro per day we were expecting a lot more. For all those reasons I wouldn't recommend this apartment.
