Barbara was a very gracious and thoughtful hostess. She met us on arrival at her lovely apartment and went over everything quite thoroughly. The apartment had everything we needed and more. Clean, open, well equipped kitchen (which we only used for breakfast), comfortable bed. The best part for us was the location. Although we had been to New York many times, we never stayed in the Inwood section but it worked beautifully. Transportation was close by and there are several really nice parks. Good restaurants and delis too. A new one to recommend--La Marina at the end of Dykemann St. Gorgeous views and interesting menu.
Thank you Barbara.
We had a nice stay in Barbara's spacious, comfortable home, and appreciate all of her help. She has a great kitchen even if we didn't cook, cable tv and wifi, comfortable bed, and clean. Her neighbors were very friendly. This area of NY is a family neighborhood with parks and restaurants. We'd love to stay there again.
I had the chance to meet Barbara about four years ago through a mutual friend of ours. After a wonderful dinner and conversation in a Korean restaurant I was "smitten" right away . So much so that when we separated I invited her to come visit me in France where I was planning to go visit my father in the following Summer. Barbara herself was planning an European tour that year. We arranged to meet outside Paris at my father's country house. I was impressed by her ability to navigate throught the French public transport and not to get lost! Barbara was very gracious and felt right away home. We had a wonderful day enjoying a typical French five course meal, followed by a stroll in the small town of Auvers filled with Art history ( Van Gogh, the painter, spent the last two months of his life there) We took the time to go visit his tomb where incidentally my mother is also burried. Barbara who did not know my mother had the most inspirational words of comfort. One year later I had the fortune to go visit Barbara around Christmas time in New York where she resides. It was her turn to show me around her neighborhood. She knew so many facts about it. We ended the day at her lovely appartment with coffee and delicious holiday cookies. I had to say good bye with a heavy heart. Eventhough I spent a total of three days with Barbara, I feel like she is an enduring friend that I will for ever cherish.
Barbara is a wonderful woman and great friend. She stayed with us for several weeks in Germany and it was delightful having her as a houseguest!!
I have known Barbara for seven years. Her place is awesome. Very well kept and a great place to stay if you're looking for more space. It's convenient to shops and subways and really close to some great parks.
I know Barbara for years. We're both musicians and we have worked together a lot. She and I both travel a good deal in Europe. We most recently had dinner together in a little cafe near her place and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly as the atmosphere is laid back but elegant. Barbara is a person with a great sense of humor, but she is responsible and thoughtful about both hosting and traveling. You'd find it easy to work with her and to stay in her place!
I sublet from Barbara during May of 2012, and it was a wonderful experience! The apartment is both beautiful and spacious, not to mention in an excellent location, and Barbara herself is now a dear friend.
