I had the good fortune of staying a Phil's sleepy pad in FiDi. Great location near the Brooklyn Bridge and East Rivet waterfront for a few late night runs. Easy access to the major Manhattan subway lines to get places. Phil's also a superb host. Recommended!
This was my first time visiting New York, and my first time using AirBnB, and I have to say that I am satisfied on both ends.
The place was what I expected to be, a bedroom, with a shared living room, kitchen, and bathroom. The area is close to a number of subway stations and bus stops so it made my daily commutes easier. For those who like walking, the place is very close to Brooklyn Bridge and the seaport, where you can experience majestic views of Manhattan.
The bonus for me, however, were the people. Phillip and his roommates are really friendly, flexible, and very knowledgeable about the city. They were extra helpful in helping me navigate New York and gave me plenty of tips on which places to check out. Phillip himself gave me a nice tour of the area on my first night of arrival, and gave me a lot of information about its history. He was also always available for any queries I might have had, throughout the 2 weeks I stayed there.
In short, I will definitely choose this place the next time I am in NYC.
Some roommates are nice and respectful and quite helpful and other are keeping you up all night! Bottom line is that there are too many people in the space and the space is not clean as advertised and outright cluttered. The walls are very thin and the space offered is next to the kitchen therefore quite allot of activity. I did not want to spend much time here as a result and feel that it is not being advertised truthfully!
It stayed at Phills place for a weekend and it was a great place for me to sleep. I did not spend a lot of time there because I arrived late at night and left very early in the morning. Phil was a great host. Super friendly and helpful.
The apartment was a pretty good location. About a 10 minute walk to the subway and right off a major road to get a cab from.
For me being a single bro who just needed a place to sleep, this was perfect. I was presented with a clean towel, and comfy queen sized bed, and clean sheets.
I have no complaints, and would probably stay with him again.
Phil was a great host. I turned up in the middle of the night and was very accommodating in showing me around the place. Phil offered tips of what to see around the city but if you wanted to keep yourself to yourself that was fine too.
I had my own set of keys and came and went as I pleased. Overall this was a perfect place to stay for me, fully recommend.
It was our first AirBnB experience and it was a very pleasant one! Phil was very nice to us and made us feel like home from the start. He's an interesting guy and and good host.
Phil was an awesome host and was really helpful in making me feel at home in his apartment. The apartment was very comfortable and quiet during the mornings and nights. The bathroom was clean and the room is pretty spacious. Phil's roommates were also very nice to talk to (and are very interesting people!). I would gladly stay at his place again during my future visits to Manhattan!
Needed a place to stay on pretty short notice, since a situation had come up where I needed to be in NY the next day. Friends were unavailable (go figure, ComiCon was on the same weekend), hotels were out of my price range, and twas a bit late to send a CS request, so I tried out Air BnB and found Phil's post. With no trouble, I indeed had a very nice place to stay - and during the weekend, Phil was a gracious and really great host. Wouldn't mind choosing this place again next time I am in town!
Phil was extraordinarily helpful as I made a last-minute reservation and then got fabulously turned around on the wrong side of the river. Prompt responses, gracious, the works.
The apartment itself is a great spot too, with a wonderful location and mix of folks coming through. Definitely recommended.
Great staying at Phil's place. The apartment is very comfortably situated, close to metro stations with most important lines. It offers you a beautiful view and proximity to Wall street, Lower East Side (15 min walk) and Down town (Soho, Chelsia). Few steps from South Sea port and it’s amazing view on Brooklyn Bridge. Neighborhood is safe, JFK easily accessible by near metro, many restaurants.
The apartment is comfortable, spacious, shared by cool young people. Phil is very welcoming and helpful.
Phils a standup buddy protecting the environment by day and being a cool housemate by night. He'll let you know the in's and out's of NYC and help you in any way he can.
Philip is a very professional, hard working, and a responsible civil servant. He is also connected to the art world and will make your stay in Manhattan an unforgettable one.
I've known Phil for a while: reliable, cool, friendly and smart certainly. I would recommend anyone to deal with him, he's a problem-less dude.
Phil is a great guy and solid coworker. One of the most hip friends I know...he will definitely point you in the right direction when you visit.
