We're both artists, Julian is a sculptor and Mary is a landscape painter. We have two little boys and a friendly little dog a cat and four chickens. We used to live in London and have recently moved to this idyllic spot near the Ashdown Forest.

Lovely stay at complete with friendly pets and kids. They are great hosts and didn't mind us tramping in at 1.30am after our friend's wedding reception. Beautiful surroundings, comfy bed, tasty breakfast and tea and cake on arrival. Couldn't fault it. Thanks Mary and family.
Mary and Julian are wonderful hosts. The stay was marked by a very pleasant family atmosphere but with considerate distance. We felt immediately well. The breakfast is highly recommended, fresh and lovingly prepared. The room was cozy and you could sleep wonderfully.
Best regards to Mary and Julian and thank you that we could be with you.

Mary was an excellent host--kind, personable, and generous. The room is truly "cozy", but the location is a paradise: perfect for those seeking nature, quiet, calm, and kindness. Beautiful garden, and any lovely walks nearby; a beautiful old pub with excellent local cask ale just up the road.
Excellent hosts, setting is idyllic - was just as expected, would recommend and I would stay there again.
Mary was a fantastic host! She made us feel incredibly welcome and couldn't have been kinder. We slept really well in a beautiful cottage in gorgeous Sussex countryside. The smell of bacon wafting upstairs was a perfect way to wake up. We left feeling totally relaxed and actually feeling as if we had made a new friend!
Mary & Julian were the perfect hosts. Relaxed, friendly and incredibly accommodating. They offered me wine when I arrived, guided me to a great local pub and prepared a great selection of cereals and cooked breakfast for me each morning. I couldn't have asked for more. Danehill is a lovely peaceful location if you want to get away and their room is a great base if you want to explore the beautiful countryside for a few days. Highly recommended.
Thank you so much for letting me in to your house. Lovely place in stunning surroundings! Next time I will make sure I got more time to explore the neighbourhood ;).
You were both incredibly welcoming and accommodating hosts! Breakfast cooked to perfection Mary ;).
Thank you and see you soon :)
Beautiful location, charming cottage and a very friendly and welcoming family. Thank you for your hospitality.
I stayed with Mary and Julian in their lovely cottage which is down a short track and feels deep in the Sussex Woods - but is only 5 minutes from a main road.
Amazing hosts - who welcomed me and spontaneously shared their evening meal- but also took care to give me some space in the morning while I ate a very full english (cooked) breakfast.
The bedroom is small and bed very comfy - with bathroom/shower just beside.
All round a warm welcome from this creative family of artists. Their oldest boy drew my picture and we did some storytelling in the morning !
I also loved being able to walk out into the Sussex woods and lanes for an hour as I woke early. The drive to Gatwick took around an hour (at 8.30am)
This was the first time we had used Airbnb and we were very impressed. We were visiting the area in order to get ideas for places to buy and had a lovely time, which was made perfect by the wonderful hospitality of Mary, Julian, their boys and Minnie (the dog - who is adorable). The room was great, the bed very comfortable and Julian cooked us a tasty breakfast using eggs from their own hens! We would definitely recommend a stay at their cottage.
