Hi! I'm Alan. I live in San Francisco. I am originally from South Florida and lived in Honolulu for 5 years before returning to the U.S. mainland.
I like to gym, hike (both urban and trail), bike, and hang out playing cards and Uno with all kinds of folks of all ages, races, sexual orientation, and spiritual belief.
I'm muscular, athletic, and active and like to live life to its fullest. All I have to spend is today. Yesterday is gone, like a canceled check. Tomorrow is not here yet, and is like a promissory note that may never become real tender. Today is all I have to spend. And so I enjoy and savor today, with 24 golden hours each studded with 60 diamond minutes. That's why they call it "The Precious Present".
Love to Hike! When I travel, I like to hike. When I'm here in San Francisco, my daily urban trek is much of my hiking. Used to live in South Florida where hiking consisted of trekking flat swamp in high heat & humidity. Not as much fun for me. jaja! :-)
Gym! I love getting a good workout on as early in the morning as possible. I never want to "get old". I just want to "grow older" as gracefully as I can.
Travel. I have wanderlust. And, because much of my travel is for business and professional purposes I get to go to and see new places while helping organizations to be more relevant, effective, and efficient.
My professional life:
I serve as the CEO and Chief Governance officer of a not-for-profit educational and research foundation. We make a difference in the lives of: transitioning and retired Veterans, their spouses and dependents; "Encore" workers; and, persons displaced from declining industries. We help people get the jobs that they want. My professional background includes Project/Program/Portfolio Management, Security, Organizational Resilience/ Business Continuity, Human Capital, Governance, Enterprise Risk, Strategy, and Compliance.
As of 2015, I am also collaborating with another nonprofit to improve the safety of the lives of people in communities through storm preparedness and community resilience efforts.
