I'm of Malaysian Chinese descent and have grown up most of my life Down Under.
Workwise, I am an accounting/finance professional and have been doing this for a no. of years now, However, I am particularly interested in the field of executive/life coaching and appreciate literature on psychology and personal development/growth books in my spare time,
Some of the better motivational books I've read would include The Power of Full Engagement by Tony Schwartz and Unlimted Power , I think the principles/tools outlined like Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) are practical and very effective, Other good personal growth books/magazines I've read include 'Who moved my Cheese' , ‘The Purpose Driven Life’, ‘The Brain that Changes itself”, 'Working with Emotional Intelligence' by Daniel Goleman, Harvard Business Review and the Alchemist. I also have a keen interest in accelerative learning techniques, such as speed reading, memory techniques, mind-mapping, use of music in fostering learning and appreciate Tony Buzan literature.
Musicwise, I listen to all kinds including Jazz (especially George Gershwin) and classical. I also like Sting, Michael Buble, Enya, Katie Melua, Paul Simon, Billy Joel, Dido, Nelly Furtado, Madonna and am a fan of U2 and Coldplay, and 80’s music and early 90's music.
Favourite foods include Italian, a good steak, Thai, Vietnamese, Greek and Peking duck,
Although I grew up Down Under, I tend to follow mostly North American sports such as NBA, NHL and MLB. Also follow the tennis, especially the Grand Slams and like tracking Olympic sporting history. Also have an appreciation of arts, like attending museums and examining history, especially world events that have shaped human history in the last century.
Favourite movies include Good Will Hunting, School Ties, V for Vendetta, The Matrix, Emperor's Club, Tuesdays with Morrie, Gattaca, Scent of a Woman, Minority Report, Coming to America, Finding Forrester, Dead Poet’s Society, Blood Diamond.
Being a Christian, I respect all cultures, races, ethnic backgrounds and other religions/philosophies. My favourite book in the Bible is Ecclesiastes - I feel we can learn a lot from King Solomon and the life course he led so as to stop going down a wrong path and reaping the bad fruits of what we may unwittingly sow. As Winston Churchill once said: 'History is doomed to repeat itself if we choose to ignore our past and fail to learn from our mistakes"
My favourite quotes include :
"The greatest risk in life is to risk nothing"
"Discipline weighs ounces, regret weighs a tonne"
"Time is not the tick of the clock, it is the everlasting now"
Well, that’s a little about me, hope I haven’t bored you too much and thanks for reading and hopefully our paths will cross someday.
