I LOVE to laugh, have fun, people person, travel the world and eat good wholesome tasty food
Stayed at Jennifer's beautiful cottage not far from the beach in Bridgetown. The apartment is a stand alone cottage which is part of a bigger complex / compound. It was clean, large and comfortable with all the necessary amenities for a 2 night stay. Had small issues with mosquitos in the bedroom the first night but the provided spray did a good job of keeping me safe from bites the 2nd night. Though I didn't get to meet Jennifer in person, communication was smooth and instructions for arrival clear.
Jennifer, Carl and their dog Marley made us feel very welcome. Jennifer and Carl were both very responsive and helpful both in coordinating before the trip and during our stay. They were able to accommodate our early morning arrival and departure times, which was amazing, after flying all night. The cottage is very cute, comfortable and spacious with a fully equipped kitchen and bath. The king size bed is firm in a good way and there is great AC in the bedroom. The beach is literally 1/2 a block away and there are several restaurants and shopping areas within a 10-15 minute walk. The bus stop is also 1/2 a block away for longer excursions, and it's possible to walk to the beaches are Carlisle Bay in less than half an hour. The family of monkeys who frequently run through the garden were an added bonus, as was Marley's friendliness. We would definitely stay in the cottage again.
Friendly and welcoming hosts, a comfortable apartment, and a beautiful location: it was just what I wanted, and I had a great stay. Marley the dog takes good care of guests as well. Many thanks.

Elegant apartments among lovely trees and flowers. A friendly welcome from Carl, who is around to help you out with anything, and Marley the dog who barked at first and then joined me for breakfast every morning and became a great friend. Carl's very polite children played football in the garden. The apartments have fans, air conditioners (a bit noisy for sleeping so better to keep a breeze coming through and acclimatise), well-chosen shabby-chic/old world furniture and art. Doors and windows protected from mosquitoes. Kitchen is well-equipped and functional, bathrooms a little basic but all clean and everything working fine. Plenty of clean towels. Wifi worked well. Frogs (I think) chirrup through the night, and there's a lovely 1850 Anglican church opposite, which rings its bells at 6am. This was fine with me as at sunrise I walked the two minutes to the beach (crossing the main road), ran the boardwalk to Rockley beach with perfect sands and great food huts. The main road is a mixture of new offices/shops and slightly delapidated houses, and there are some good bars/restaurants (Blakey's, Tapas) and a nice convenience store. The main road is constantly served by buses, vans and taxis so really easy to get around the south coast. Overall Karibu really grew on me, it felt like an oasis every time I came back. It's a perfect base for exploring the island, but sat on my private verandah among the trees it's tempting just to stay there and read! Also Jennifer is very quick and responsive to messages re booking. I had to rearrange plans in a hurry and she and Carl were very kind and helpful.
I felt very welcomed when I arrived.
I had such a lovely time at Karibu Gardens and felt very welcome. It's a really charming, relaxing place. Hosts are very accommodating. Will definitely return!
Great location! Jennifer and her "hands-on-the-ground", Valerie, were incredibly accommodating and attentive. Valerie even made me a batch of farewell samosas—so tasty!!! My AC broke a few times, but each time it was fixed within a few days.
"The Jamoon" is on the ground floor, so it suffers from a little less natural light and a few more caribbean critters than some of the other apartments. So, if you're thinking of staying at Karibu Garden and don't mind spending a few extra $$, I would recommend the upstairs or detached units over this one.
Also, If you are looking for a med/long-term rental in Barbados, I would recommend looking for a more affordable option once you arrive. That said, Karibu Garden is PERFECT for short visits. Great people, Great location.
I really enjoyed my second stay at karibu. The Mango had everything I needed, was close to the beach, shops and bus stops. Jennifer is a great host, I appreciated her being able to accommodate my ever-changing plans.
I'm joining a long list of visitors with the good fortune to have spent time at the Karibu Gardens and with their terrific hosts, Jennifer and Carl. It's a special place with quaint and well-furnished cottages, open areas for exercise or relaxation, and even a few wild monkeys for entertainment. Due to some unforeseen scheduling changes, I ended up staying in three of the units -- Lime (when my daughter visited I needed the second bedroom), Breadfruit (terrific upstairs one-bedroom place), and Plum (downstairs and my favorite). Carl was always helpful starting with welcoming me and seeing to my needs and comforts. He is a terrific guy and a pleasure to know. Jennifer was behind the scenes coordinating things and was very responsive. These cottages are great places for short or long term stays as well as romantic getaways. A beautiful beach and boardwalk (with some excellent restaurants) is only a few minute's walk. Can't say enough about my time at the Lime.
