Nice and cosy apartment, which has everything you need. Very quiet, which makes it very relaxing in the lively neighborhood of Goutte d'Or.
Mathilde is the most lovely, caring and helpful host. There are some guidebooks in the flat and she leaves a map of Montmartre, which is right round the corner, with a recommended walk and useful addresses of shops and markets.
Communication before and during our stay was easy.
Note that it can be a bit difficult if your most agile days lie behind you. It's on the sixth floor without a lift and showering can be a bit tricky.
Highly recommended place!
We spent 9 nights in Mathilde's studio. She was super nice, she told us basic info about the neighbourhood, where to buy deliscious croissants, where to go, and what to see.
Showering was a bit unconfortable but overall I'd say this is a great place to stay!
My boyfriend and I stayed in Mathilde's flat only four days but it was a great experience! The flat is quite small at the 6th floor without lift but very nice and cosy. It was very worth it!
The location of the flat is very good, really close to the stop of line 4, and to Montmartre. When I arrived the quarter seamed a bit dangerous, but later I understood it was very quite.
Mathilde is a very kind host! We met her our first day and she gave us lots of advice, maps, and also something for breakfast!
I suggest this flat to the people who want to visit Paris and do a romantic holiday! :)
This place is truly a charmant studio close to Montmartre. It was nice to be in company of such a great selection of books and spices for cooking. Everything was easy going with Mathilde and she provided us with very useful infos.
If you want a nice and affordable place to stay in Paris, look no more! Mathilde's apartment is clean, quiet and quite pleasant. The bed is super confortable and it's so quiet at night, you will have a great night sleep - you'll appreciate it after the whole day walking around, having fun in Paris! Mathilde provides everything you need, information, maps and supplies, and is always available to solve whatever problems you may find - we didn't have any at all, though. The studio is on the 6th floor of a lift-less building, in the busy and lively Goutte d'Or, also known as Little Africa. When we arrived in the afternoon, right in the middle of a market, we were a bit overwhelmed with how busy the area was, but we found quickly that the neighborhood is much safer than it seems and it's very quiet at night. It is very close to the metro station Château Rouge, there's bakeries, supermarkets, and markets around so you are very well situated in terms of food. We got to any tourist attraction very fast by metro, and we had a great time in Paris, no troubles at all.
A highlight was definitely meeting Mathilde, which felt like an honor. She's not only a very caring host, but such an interesting and beautiful human being, it meant even more to us that she shared her place and took the time to meet us and talk with us for a while.
I think that the place is as important as the host you choose. You can't go wrong with Mathilde, I recommend her with confidence, and thank her for making sure our stay in Paris was so great. When I go back to Paris, I'll be sure to check if Mathilde's Studio is available.
We stayed in Mathilde's apartment last year during our first trip to Paris, and loved our stay (although apparently I forgot to write this review!)
The apartment is in the 18th arrondissement, east of Mont Martre, and very close (though not quick walking distance) from the major train station Gare du Nord. I personally thought the location was very interesting and fun. It's in the centre of a vibrant African neighbourhood, with open air markets, and the occasional police raid. All of the major Parisian sites were quickly accessible each day by the super-fast Metro, and our apartment was literally a one minute walk to the nearest station.
Mathilde's bed was extremely comfortable. The apartment was small by Canadian standards, but uses its space well. We were pretty exhausted from our whirlwind tour of Paris in any event.
Mathilde was very thoughtful! She left guidebooks, and also a personal list of favourite shops and bakeries right around her house. And there was a delicious assortment of bread and jam that she provided for breakfast!
La casa muy acogedora, con buena cercanía al metro y al Sagrado Corazón en el barrio de Montmartre
This was the last part of our three week trip so we were very tired by the time we arrived. Mathilde had communicated with me from the US and I felt very secure about how to get there and a time to meet with her. We found it easily. There is an African market that you walk through to get there and it is busy and quite noisy, but once you get to her place there is a quiet courtyard and it is on the top floor. Which was nice for us because we needed a place to rest and unwind for a bit. The Metro stop is just around the corner so we bought a 3 day pass and just rode it all over. You can get the pass at the Gare D'Nord. It is worth it. Montmartre is just up the hill. It is a climb, but again worth it. We love art and this was a fun place to see artists and the Dali Museum is there and worth the visit.
We bought food and fixed it at the place and that was nice for us. There is a supermarket within walking distance as well as the African market.
Mathilde gives you a nice map which is a walk that I recommend.
We had a nice stay and appreciate her very much.
My wife and I had a wonderful time staying at Mathilde's beautiful studio. The flat was very comfortable, with lots of light, and full of cool books. Mathilde did a great job thinking through what visitors to Paris might need - there were maps and guide books, suggestions for nice places to buy bread and pastries and even a universal power-socket adapter. The location of the flat is great - just a couple of blocks from a subway station, a 5-10 minute walk to the heart of Montmartre, and a 15 minute walk to the Gare du Nord train station. One thing to be aware of is that the flat is on the top floor of a 6 story building, so you'll get a bit of exercise coming up the stairs =) All in all, our stay at Mathilde flat was great!
The apartment was everything it was written to be, and it certainly was quiet. Mathilde was away, so we met Coralie to receive the key. The apartment was very clean, and we felt safe in on the sixth floor with plenty of security between the street and our door. The neighborhood is right on the edge of Montmartre, with plenty of character, very close to the Metro stop. We are very pleased with our stay.
