I stayed in the room for 3 nights and I was happy with my choice. You can reach everything from there and it seems like a nice neighbourhood. The room is small like described and it's in an old house. I was happy that a friend of the Host carried my back in the fifth floor because there is no elevatior.
Just one advise: bring your own towel. It was hard to get in contact with the host and I just saw her ones so I had to wait for the towel pretty long and it wasn't the nicest one.
All in all I would stay there again. There isn't anything better or cheaper for a person that is traveling on it's own.
I really liked the room and the apartment. The room was small, but cozy, and everything that I needed was there ( a lamp, bed sheets, a socket and some shelves for clothing). Wi-Fi worked perfectly well. There are no windows, but I did not close the door to the living room, so there was enough fresh air. Also there is no elevator in the building, so I struggled a little bit with my bags. The apartment is in a very good part of city, it is close to everything I needed (thrift shops, small nice bars, cinemas etc). The subway is also only two blocks away and the J train takes you all the way to the JFK shuttle, which was very convenient for me.
In the apartment I met some other guests, everyone was very nice. I never met Anastasia, but she left the keys for me downstairs, which was very convenient. There was no check-in time and I could come and leave any time, which worked greatly for me!
I did not met Anastasia. But the location was pretty cool, you have everything like bodegas, and subways it's one block away.
Otherwise the bathroom was very dirty, i didn't expect this, i was hopping someone was encharge of this kind of stuff.
Anyway the spot was good, great area and enough space.
The room as as described. nice little place int he heart of LES. Would stay there again for sure!
Anastasia is a great host. Everything was ok. Clean room, good internet, next time, when I'm in NYC, I'll try to book it again. Thanks you very much, Nastya :)
Anastasia was a great host. Communicated well and welcomed me with a drink, a clean towel and a nice chat. The room is tiny - exactly as you see in the pictures - but perfectly fine as a place to crash after a day of exploring. Location wise, it's only a couple blocks from Essex St station and a short walk to the east village.
Had a great time staying here, awesome location, worked out really well.
I spent 2 weeks at Anastasia's and I was happy with my choice. The location is perfect, great neighborhood, the Subway is a 3 min walk away. Didn't see Anastasia much as she's quite busy, so a lot of the times I felt like having the place to myself The bedroom is indeed small but if you want to enjoy the city, and are only looking for a place to crash, it will be totally enough. Plus, you get a free cardio workout walking up to the 5th floor :)
Anastasia was a great host, room perfect for my needs, housing conditions fulfilled all expectations, good location, very close to the metro station. I recommend :)
This room looked exactly like the picture, it's small and plain but gets the job done. However, no picture can express how LOUD sleeping in this room was. I'm not talking about sporadic noise, I'm talking about constant honking, yelling, music playing, and construction. The three windows are nice but only one of them has blinds so the sun comes in and wakes you up at 7 am whether you like it or not.
Aside from the aforementioned conditions, I wasn't aware that this room was located right next to another tiny room that Anastasia frequently rents out. There was a new person occupying the room next door every night, and all that was separating us was a flimsy little wall. Thus I could hear everything, especially when the guest arrived banging open doors and turning on lights at 2 am which flooded my room with light as well.
The apartment is decently clean but the bathroom was a bit dirty. WiFi was good and Anastasia was friendly when I saw her. The bathroom door didn't lock so that was a bit weird especially when taking a shower. Oh and you have to climb five flights of stairs every time to get to the apartment which is a total killer.
Everything was perfect!
