Designer and specialist coffee shop owner.
David's apartment is understated in his advertisement. The accommodation was great and in an amazing location. The communication during the booking stage was excellent. I can't recommend David and his property more!
Unfortunately, i did not get to meet david, but he met my father who had arrived to london a day before me. My father arrived late at night and David waited for him, and provided some breakfast food in the apartment as it was too late to buy some which was very nice of him.
The apartment was very nice. Location unbeatable. It has a nice spacious bedroom with a large queen bed and 2 sofas in the living room, one of which turns into a nice double bed. I slept on the sofa bed and had no problems. Overall, amazing location, spacious apartment, very comfortable.
In general our stay in David's apartment went well. His friend met us at the apartment, gave us keys and some basic information. The apartment was adequate (bed comfortable) but the location was fantastic. Learn how to use the buses before going, about a dozen different buses are a block from the apartment and most places you want to see are within a 15 minute ride.
There are a few things that would have improved our stay.
1. The only coffee maker was a French Press, our first experience; needed to go to web for instructions.
2. The tub is deep and raised. We managed but it needs some HAND HOLDS on the wall for a safe entrance and exit.
3. The clothes washer/dryer did not have an instruction manual. The Zanussi manual I found was for the wrong model. I downloaded a manual ZWD 12270 W(phone number hidden)EN.PDF). You need to run small loads and it could take 4-5 hours for the wash dry cycle. It will take about 15 minutes after it stops before you can open the door. But once we figured it out it worked well.
4. The lamps gave barely adequate light for reading.
5. David lives in the apartment, so all his stuff is there. Not like going into an apartment just used for renting out. Not a major issue. Frig was well stocked, for us or just what he left?
David, we did have a great time in London hope you take my comments constructively.
The best holiday apartment we could have wished for!
1. Fantastic location. West End, 3 parks, endless restaurants and shops, all within a walking distance.
2. Clean, warm and very well stocked.
3. Two big, comfortable rooms, a nice separate kitchen with everything in it, nice clean toilets (and bath). The apartment is really rather big for central London, the living room much bigger than your average hotel room.
4. Building quiet and clean.
5. David was really nice and helpful.
1. Can get occasionally noisy on weekend nights, when the young and restless wonder from Oxford Circus into the little street. Not a big issue for us.
2. Sofa in the living room nice to sit on, less nice to sleep on for days, You sort of feel the springs in your back.
All in all:
For the price of a small room in a low rate 4 star hotel, far from the center, we got a big, clean, quiet, apartment of our own, with the greatest location you can think of, and with plenty of room for 3 people who sometimes need their privacy.
It's been great!
Very convenient location just a stone's throw from busy Oxford and Regent Streets and Oxford Circus tube station. Comfy, well-equipped and quiet apartment, with a Starbucks next door, and supermarkets close by for any self-catering. Quality toiletries supplied were a pleasant bonus. David was a great host who responded quickly to queries, and was very helpful in letting us check in earlier because our flight arrived early. He even got us some milk and breakfast fixings to help us get started. We really appreciated his hospitality and enjoyed our stay very much.
What a perfect location! You are close to everything I would say.
The apartment is perfect for four. There is a great and very comfortable king size bed in the bedroom and a sofabed in the livingroom. The kitchen, even though small, have everything you need. There are even dishwasher and washmashine.....
The apartment was clean and so was the bedlinning and towels.
The apartment is located on a side road to Regent str and parallell to Oxford str. About 2 min walk from Oxford Circus.
David is the best host and was truly interested to give us a great stay in London. He even purchased breakfast groceries to us since we arrived late and the stores should be closed the day after due to easter. That is what we call service.
We will definately stay at Davids on our next London trip.
This was my first experience with airbnb. Finding accommodation in my price range that looked suitable was so easy, the “paperwork” even easier.
We arrived on Princes Street, called the contact phone number and in minutes Tim arrived with the key and invaluable neighbourhood advice.
The flat: large bright rooms, full kitchen with high-end appliances, washer dryer, good bathroom – all thoroughly clean. In January, comfortably warm without having to turn on extra heaters.
The main bed and pull-out bed: both equally comfortable – much appreciated.
The location: we are still excited about it. Only metres from the Oxford Circus tube station, easy walk to iconic London stores and sites. A grocery / food hall around the corner that was wonderful.
Every time we left the flat, we marveled about where we were staying.
Would I book this accommodation again? You bet I would.
There is a minimum standard of cleanliness that this apartment did not meet. I don't want to pay to stay in someone else's unclean apartment. Here is the exchange with the owner copied below.
There is a small bag of coffee beans in your kitchen which made us wonder about a coffee maker (the bag is unopened so it looks like the previous tenants made the same mistake we did and bought a bag before realizing they cannot make fresh coffee). You might consider getting a small coffee maker for the future as most people, outside the U.K., drink fresh coffee in the morning. Anyway, this is our first time renting through Airbnb so perhaps this is common.
I did want to bring another thing to your attention, the apartment was not cleaned properly. When we opened the sofa bed we noticed several white round spots of some type of residue (they are not stains) on the sheet. There were also strands of hair on the bed sheets in the bedroom. So we changed all the sheets. There was also oil on the top surface of the night stand on the left side of the bed (closer to the bedroom door) and as it was rather thick we just placed a towel on it as opposed to attempting to wipe it off. The toaster tray (or broiler pan) in the oven has a lot of food debris on it. The toilet bowl wasn't cleaned either (several stained spots on the underside of the seat), the top surface of the dining table was left with a rather grimy layer of dust, and there were food stuff in the fridge with expired dates.
I mention these because Tim told us you are out of the country and perhaps did not get a chance to inspect your apartment after whoever did the cleaning. We travel a lot and have rather thick skins when it comes to lodging; we can put up with tight quarters, lack of amenities, etc., but basic cleanliness is a minimum requirement as I am sure it is for you when you travel.
I don't want to give the wrong impression. Overall, we are enjoying it here; the location of your apartment is ideal and we are otherwise comfortable in your apartment. But I thought it is important to pass this information along.
Happy new year from Sydney. The coffee was a Christmas gift to me. This is my personal apartment and it was left cleaned when I left. If my house keeper didn't clean the house to your standard I'm sorry I've never had a problem before. When you rent from airbnb it's mostly owners renting out there houses not a business. So maybe it's not for you as its not a hotel. I'm glad you are enjoying the location.
Have a great new year
The worst thing I could say about this apartment is that the photos don't do it justice. Once inside it is a really lovely and cute 1 bedroom apartment (with pull-out sofa), that is smack bang in the middle of Mayfair - Oxford Circus tube station is 100 metres away, with Bond Street tube just a 5-minute stroll down Oxford Street. There is a Starbucks and Pret a Manger directly downstairs, as well as every important mid-range and high-range fashion store within a 500-metre radius. The apartment was super-clean, with a robust wifi and heating. The kitchen had everything you need to host a small dinner party, and David even left for us some bread, butter, james, tea/coffee etc. to make sure we were well looked after. David himself is a fantastic host and consumate gentleman. We didn't need to call him while we were there (everything was perfect), but he let us know he was there should we need it. I would definitely recommend this apartment to anyone who wants to be within walking distance of elegant London, and know we will always return. Thanks David for a fantastic week.
Very great appartement and an excellent location ! It's comfortable and very practical.
It was a great pleasure to meet and host David ! He is absolutely a perfect guest, very friendly, communicative and the apartment was left in great condition. Thanks so much for staying with me ! I highly recommend David to future hosts!
I have had the pleasure of staying at David's beautifully-kept, pristine clean apartment. What can I say, being seconds away from Oxford St, Regent St. Iit is a true privilege to be in e epicentre of London. Spacious kitchen, living room and bedroom along with great wifi and tv.
Thank you D! A must on anyone's London apartment wish list !!!!!
