Fabulous first experience with Airbnb! We were familiar with London and the general location prior to departure but having typically stayed in some of London's finest hotels, we were newbies at the Airbnb game. Maybe we got lucky, but David (and his colleague Tim) were incredibly responsive throughout from initial contact to departure-Tim reached out to us just after we landed at LHR. David is an interior designer and I am in real estate sales so I was very appreciative of the aesthetic value and quality of both the location and the accommodations. My husband had business all over the city and he found our home base to be very convenient. As other reviewers have pointed out, David's flat is steps from Trafalgar and Leicester Squares, Piccadilly Circus, crazy shopping on Regent and theatre everywhere you turn. We traveled with our 24 year old son so the upstairs pull out couch was put to good use and some privacy appreciated. The singular washroom should be taken into consideration for multiple occupants but the bath is spacious, it's just a matter of personal preference. We took advantage of close proximity to Covent Garden and found ourselves eating out quite a bit but the kitchen in the flat is light, bright, and very functional. You will find a couple of small but well stocked grocers just outside the front door. All in all we were tickled! We travel quite a bit and from now on Airbnb will be my go to resource for accommodations. Thanks and Cheers David and Tim!
I spent a week in David's apartment. It is a nice and cosy place. There is a bedroom and a bathroom with a large walk in shower in the ground floor. The upper floor has a hihg ceiling living room and a small kitchen. Although the unit is not very large, this is one of the most spacious places you can get in central London.
The location is as central as it gets. There are 3 different tube stations in 3-5 minutes walking distance. You can find a lot of dining and shopping options nearby.
David is a very good host. Although we did not meet in the first day, he came by later on. He has been very helpful on facilitating our requests.
In short it is one of the most central houses with functional design and a great host.
Stayed for a week. David apartment was fabulous. Excellent location in London. China town & Leicester square is just around the corner. Walking distance to the main shopping district. You name it you got it. It is a nice apartment, in fact I will call it a house as you don't have to carry your luggage up to any floor, and it just located in the quiet alley but in the most happening area. Good to fit 4 person, Good size. Will definitely go back again. Cheers
The host David has been perfect, very helpful with informations and flexible with check-in and check-out.
The Apartment is really nice and clean -- it's situated in the very centre of London, just few hundred metres from Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Square, Covent Garden, National Gallery etc etc.
Internet connection is fast and Sonos system is a nice plus if you want to listen to some good music.
I'm really looking for to come back to this apt and the ratio price/quality is good, especially considering the cost (and quality..) of the hotels in London.
David's apartment is understated in his advertisement. The accommodation was great and in an amazing location. The communication during the booking stage was excellent. I can't recommend David and his property more!
Unfortunately, i did not get to meet david, but he met my father who had arrived to london a day before me. My father arrived late at night and David waited for him, and provided some breakfast food in the apartment as it was too late to buy some which was very nice of him.
The apartment was very nice. Location unbeatable. It has a nice spacious bedroom with a large queen bed and 2 sofas in the living room, one of which turns into a nice double bed. I slept on the sofa bed and had no problems. Overall, amazing location, spacious apartment, very comfortable.
In general our stay in David's apartment went well. His friend met us at the apartment, gave us keys and some basic information. The apartment was adequate (bed comfortable) but the location was fantastic. Learn how to use the buses before going, about a dozen different buses are a block from the apartment and most places you want to see are within a 15 minute ride.
There are a few things that would have improved our stay.
1. The only coffee maker was a French Press, our first experience; needed to go to web for instructions.
2. The tub is deep and raised. We managed but it needs some HAND HOLDS on the wall for a safe entrance and exit.
3. The clothes washer/dryer did not have an instruction manual. The Zanussi manual I found was for the wrong model. I downloaded a manual ZWD 12270 W(phone number hidden)EN.PDF). You need to run small loads and it could take 4-5 hours for the wash dry cycle. It will take about 15 minutes after it stops before you can open the door. But once we figured it out it worked well.
4. The lamps gave barely adequate light for reading.
5. David lives in the apartment, so all his stuff is there. Not like going into an apartment just used for renting out. Not a major issue. Frig was well stocked, for us or just what he left?
David, we did have a great time in London hope you take my comments constructively.
The best holiday apartment we could have wished for!
1. Fantastic location. West End, 3 parks, endless restaurants and shops, all within a walking distance.
2. Clean, warm and very well stocked.
3. Two big, comfortable rooms, a nice separate kitchen with everything in it, nice clean toilets (and bath). The apartment is really rather big for central London, the living room much bigger than your average hotel room.
4. Building quiet and clean.
5. David was really nice and helpful.
1. Can get occasionally noisy on weekend nights, when the young and restless wonder from Oxford Circus into the little street. Not a big issue for us.
2. Sofa in the living room nice to sit on, less nice to sleep on for days, You sort of feel the springs in your back.
All in all:
For the price of a small room in a low rate 4 star hotel, far from the center, we got a big, clean, quiet, apartment of our own, with the greatest location you can think of, and with plenty of room for 3 people who sometimes need their privacy.
It's been great!
Very convenient location just a stone's throw from busy Oxford and Regent Streets and Oxford Circus tube station. Comfy, well-equipped and quiet apartment, with a Starbucks next door, and supermarkets close by for any self-catering. Quality toiletries supplied were a pleasant bonus. David was a great host who responded quickly to queries, and was very helpful in letting us check in earlier because our flight arrived early. He even got us some milk and breakfast fixings to help us get started. We really appreciated his hospitality and enjoyed our stay very much.
What a perfect location! You are close to everything I would say.
The apartment is perfect for four. There is a great and very comfortable king size bed in the bedroom and a sofabed in the livingroom. The kitchen, even though small, have everything you need. There are even dishwasher and washmashine.....
The apartment was clean and so was the bedlinning and towels.
The apartment is located on a side road to Regent str and parallell to Oxford str. About 2 min walk from Oxford Circus.
David is the best host and was truly interested to give us a great stay in London. He even purchased breakfast groceries to us since we arrived late and the stores should be closed the day after due to easter. That is what we call service.
We will definately stay at Davids on our next London trip.
It was a great pleasure to meet and host David ! He is absolutely a perfect guest, very friendly, communicative and the apartment was left in great condition. Thanks so much for staying with me ! I highly recommend David to future hosts!
I have had the pleasure of staying at David's beautifully-kept, pristine clean apartment. What can I say, being seconds away from Oxford St, Regent St. Iit is a true privilege to be in e epicentre of London. Spacious kitchen, living room and bedroom along with great wifi and tv.
Thank you D! A must on anyone's London apartment wish list !!!!!
