Xander was not in Chicago at the time of our stay, but he responded readily whenever we emailed him. The apartment is in the neighborhood we wanted, and very quiet. Being so close to the train was great!
Overall it was clean, but some of the dishes and pans were sticky (and there was no dish soap)—Xander seemed surprised enough at this that I’m sure he will take it up with the people who are cleaning for him. The electric kettle didn’t heat and the microwave quit while we were there, and that was inconvenient, but I expect he will have replaced them asap. At one point the water shut off—Xander told us to call the building custodian and we had water again in a few minutes.
The kitchen is a bit deficient—no 1-3 qt. sauce pans, no spatula for turning an egg—as it was during our stay, a guest could not expect to actually cook much there. Again, I get the impression from Xander that he had equipped the kitchen; however, some of the things were not there at the time of our stay.
We would definitely rent from Xander again—he is very accessible via email, and checked in with us several times. He mailed the keys to us in plenty of time, and he was friendly and helpful.
It is cozy apartment and Xander is a very friendly and if you are not a Chicago citizen you will feel that you have a friend in Chicago and not a host.
Some problems happened with the apartment key as my flight was delayed, he booked to me from his pocket in a very good hotel in downtown which is double the price which I paid in his apartment for the weekend.
Exactly what I needed. Cozy place, comfy bed, fast wifi, and great location. Shops, transit, and the lake are all walking distance from the apartment. Xander was a great host, kind and responsive. Would def recommend
Xander's apartment space is cozy and comfortable. We had a lovely Chicago experience!
Although we didn't meet Zander, he replied quickly to texts and we had no difficulties. The apartment was exactly as described and spotlessly clean. He posted us the keys, and directions were easy to follow. It was only five minutes to the station, and close to shops and restaurants. A brillant location for exploring Chicago and a short walk to the beach. Would recommend Andies in nearby Andersonville for dinner!. We all agreed best family holiday ever.
Xander is a wonderful host. Friendly and responsible. Always quick response and let us feel comfortable and safe during our trips. Thank you Xander
Small, clean apartment very close to a metro stop. Xander met us there at the apartment and made us feel welcome. Great little neighborhood with shops just up the road. Perfect spot to be able to explore Chicago from.
Xander was great. Very easy guest to accommodate and just an overall solid guest. Book him!
Xander was a great guest, very respectful. We talked business throughout the week I enjoyed his company.
He was very nice guest and a pleasure to host.
great guest would welcome Xander back anytime. :)
Calm and reserved host. Good comunication. He left the apartment in good condition.
Xander is not the friendliest guest. It's ok if you just rent your place as a hotel, but if you share the place with him you may not really feel comfortable.
Nice and business type of guest, no nonsense and to the point
Xander has a good sense of humour, especially when it comes to the consequences of French bureaucracies. His work is interesting and diverse and he's fun to talk with.
I haven't met Alexander personally, but my roommate who welcomed him in the apartment found him very nice and quiet and recommend him as a guest.
Very pleasant guest
