We are a working alpaca ranch on the White Salmon River, we have 2 beautiful log cabin guest units.
My boyfriend and I had an awesome experience at Steelhead Ranch. Matt and Micki had our fireplace going upon arrival, and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. We took advantage of the hot tub, and visited with the alpacas and other friendly ranch animals while we were there. We would definitely come back!
Great property. Perfect weekend getaway. About 15-20 min to Hood River and 45 min to Meadows Ski resort. Hosts were very accommodating. Only thing that didn't work was the internet so be sure to ask about that if it's important for you.
Matt and his family were fantastic hosts. They gave us privacy and yet were more than willing to show us the animals, offer us headlamps to borrow, give us advice on where to eat, and overall make our stay as pleasant as possible.
The cabin is lovely, the fireplace is cozy and the farm is beautiful. If you love big dogs, farm cats, giant bunnies, and lots and lots of Alpacas then this is your place!
Wonderful place to stay for our first AirBNB experience! My husband and I visited here with our 9 month old for 2 nights. We got a later start then anticipated and the ranch sign made it easy to spot arriving after dark. We were greeted by the ranch hand dog who gave us a friendly welcome as soon as we arrived. The unit was easy to locate and we had a bottle of local wine and lit gas fireplace waiting for us. The rental overall is spacious, private, and tastefully done. The King bed makes for a very comfortable nights sleep. We were provided extra towels to use the hot tub which is right around the side of the unit. There is also a fire pit a couple yards away out front. We enjoyed showing our son the alpacas, chickens and their big bunny rabbit as part of our family friendly road trip. Delightful experience and we would definitely return.
Great weekend getaway! We would have stayed longer if we had the time. The property is beautiful. The cabin is clean and cozy. Great conversation with Matt who is a friendly host. We went for a run and ended up at an amazing spot along the river Matt had directed us to. Heading back asap!
So wonderful! The cabin and the property was beautiful. I am definitely coming back!
Our quick trip to Steelhead Ranch was the perfect little getaway from the city. The cabin was super cozy and clean and our host was fantastic. He spent the time to introduce us to his Alpacas and teach us about the process of breeding/sheering them for their fleece. He was knowledgeable about the White Salmon/Hood River area and gave us great restaurant suggestions as well. I would definitely come back to Steelhead Ranch again!
Very clean and very cozy. Perfect for a relaxing weekend away. I only met Matt and he was nice, helpful and welcoming. Great setting. Easy to find. I would definitely return.
We decided to get away from the hustle and hassle of the Thanksgiving weekend to stay at this little slice of heaven in White Salmon. Matt and Mickey are excellent hosts who provide a wonderfully relaxing and friendly experience out in the Gorge. The cabin is well appointed, and new...there is a hot tub on site which we gladly partook of, and the cabin is quite toasty with the gas fireplace. We had a chance to meet the entire family as well as the alpacas, their very sweet dog and the biggest rabbit I have ever seen (don't worry...it's teeth aren't big!). All in all, we now have it on our radar and plan on using it again for a short get away from the big city...with Hood River right across the river and some really awesome wineries, as well as outdoor activities (hello ice caves) who could go wrong? Oh and you are treated to a bottle of wine or a growler of beer upon your arrival too! A great experience for us!
Micki and Matt were great hosts and built a wonderful guest cabin on their ranch. We wanted a low-key 3 day Thanksgiving getaway, and found exactly that on the Steelhead Ranch. We enjoyed amenities at the cabin (Matt even helped build us a fire for S'mores roasting!) but there is also lots to do in the area. We toured an ice cave near Mt. Adams, enjoyed craft brews in Mt Hood and White Salmon--lots of maps, recommendations and directions were provided. Our multiple night stay also included a complimentary bottle of wine with our stay.
Besides the novelty of seeing Alpacas each morning, we loved the greeting and affection we received from the "ranch hand" Chevis, the Great Pyrenees. We had an amazing time, and would certainly stay again.
