Hi and thanks for your interest in Mariposa Retreat @ Earth & Sea Farm.
We are Midge & Tom, long time keys residents who raised our 3 keys born (now adult) sons on this island. We are most happy to host your visit to our quiet, rural oasis with stunning views from our west facing decks that overlook the Great White Heron Wildlife Refuge. Our island paradise also offers great walks and lots of quiet. We invite you to be at home, relax and enjoy our very special location close enough for a quick trip to town and far enough away to imagine yourself on a remote island.
Having lived in the Florida Keys for over 33 years/Midge & 39 years/Tom we have extensive local information with referrals for boating, beaches, fishing, snorkeling, art & history. It is our pleasure to also support the independent traveler who is looking for a quiet retreat with easy access to Key West entertainments and Bahia Honda's spectacular beaches.
We make every effort to support the type of experience you wish to have while our guest on the land. Well appointed kitchen is available for guest use 8am-5pm with access to our small staples (oil, salt, spices, etc.) and a dedicated shelf in refrigerator with mostly organic fruit, bread coffee service every morning 730-10am.
Mariposa Retreat @ Earth & Sea Farm is located on the edge of the Great White Heron Wildlife Refuge and there are thousands of acres of native land on our very small island. We are only 15 miles/30 minutes (some say 20 minutes) from Key West to the west with the unique Ft. Zachary Taylor beach where the Gulf of Mexico meets the Atlantic Ocean and to the east, the beautiful Bahia Honda State Park with highly rated beaches.
Although we are a working farm, Rarely do farm activities begin before 10am within hearing distance of the guest rooms.
