I have stayed in a a lot of Air BnB situations and this was my absolute BEST EXPERIENCE.
I loved José Ignacio (Nacho) and Maria, my hosts. They were wonderful hosts, welcoming me into their beautiful home and treating me like a beloved friend. I am so very grateful that I had the opportunity to stay with them and when I come back to Spain, I will make a special trip to Olias del Rey (Toledo) to see them again.
What was so great about them? They were friendly and interested in me and my travels without being overbearing, and I was interested in them. I was very tired when I arrived and they simply asked how I would like to go about my stay, inquiring if I would like to go to my room and rest or if I would like to join them for a cup of tea.
I opted for the tea, which was delicious and the conversation just rolled. My Spanish is very basic and they asked if I would prefer English (though Maria doesn't speak English) so I opted for Spanish. They were perfectly clear and repeated themselves when I requested it. They even slowed down their speech so I could better understand. It really was a Spanish lesson in so many ways because they corrected me with pronunciation and Spanish particulars, in regard to my largely Mexican-focused Spanish.
*Wonderful Hosts--Kind, friendly, helpful, warm, welcoming.
*Beautiful Home--clean, welcoming, well-decorated, comfortable, perfect temperature, private, peaceful.
*Bathroom--spotlessly clean, large, bright, private, perfect bathtub, soft, clean towels, airy, open, separate WC and bathing area. Ideal.
*Bedroom--comfortable, private, quiet, shutters for darkness when sleeping, comfortable bed with soft linens and an extra blanket if needed. Plenty of space in the closet. A dressing table for my things.
*Breakfast--delicious, coffee, tea, milk toast, jam, Iberico ham with crushed tomatoes (a Spanish morning treat). Maria had baked a birthday cake for a friend, the evening before and she made an extra for me to try! Everything was delicious and abundant.
*The Gardens--it rained hard during most of my visit, so I couldn't spend much time outside, but the gardens and outdoor living areas were beautiful and well cared for.
*Nikko--sweetest little dog. Friendly and unobtrusive and ready for pets if I wanted to give them (which I did.)
*None--honestly, everything was simply perfect.
One more thing; on the day I left, it was still raining hard with no sign of letting up and I needed a pair of rain boots. Nacho and Maria accompanied me to the Merkal to buy a pair and then helped me to the highway toward Madrid. They are not doing these things for any other reward than being good, gracious human beings. This is simply how they are. I appreciate it and I'm grateful.
Stop looking and book this place..... Now! Whether you are young, old, a couple, family with children or solo traveller, this place has EVERYTHING you need! Maria and Nacho are the most loveliest people we have ever met! I can not use words to describe our stay. I can only say that we are richer in life for meeting them. The memories we have with them are the reason we travel and the benefits of websites like air bnb. We have been traveling Europe for the past 8 weeks using air bnb and wimdu, this is the greatest place we have stayed. It felt like we were staying with our very good friends of many years. Nacho's English is excellent (although he will deny this. They are so passionate about their city and gave us more useful information then any lonely planet book or travel website could. We were privilege to be their first guests in their stunning, exceptionally clean and warm home. The home is in a quiet, safe, beautiful village which is a quick and easy ten minute drive to Toledo. It was lovely to be put of the city but still very close. Everything is perfect - I can not recommend a better place. We will be back to visit our new friends but will definitely stay much longer next time!
