If you are looking for an apartment in Florence then THIS is the apartment you want! Not only is it as stunning as it appears in the pictures but it is clear that it much loved by Elly the host and that she has thought about the comforts and requirements of guests. Our family group of 8 (aged from 4 up to early 70s) stayed for 5 nights and there was plenty of space for all of us. It is well located to explore Florence, there are shops and restaurants within minutes and it is very close to the Citysightseeing bus tour route. Pre-visit communication with Elly was excellent, she was very helpful and friendly, she met us on our arrival and even arranged taxis for us (twice!) again, confirming ASAP that all was sorted. Without a doubt we all recommend staying here and I certainly hope to return to Florence (and this apartment!) Thank you Elly!
We loved the apartment - it fit 4 of us comfortably for 3 nights. There is a lovely balcony and we enjoyed the view and eating breakfast there. The apartment location was excellent; various markets and dining options were right in the immediate area and we found it convenient to walk to other major sites in Florence. Elly also provided some great tips on where to eat throughout the city.
Elly was great - she gave great advice and made sure all of our questions were answered. The apartment was in a fantastic part of the city, very convenient, but a step outside of the big tourist crush of crowds.
We took a taxi to the apartment which was easy to find and Elly was at the door waiting for us. Our unit is on the second floor so it wasn't too much of a hassle lugging our bags up.
We loved staying at lolly house, it is a charming and quaint apartment. We took up Elly's recommendations for food and they were great! She also had a detailed map highlighting all the restaurants/places of attractions and suggested walking routes, which made it easy for us to get around.
We will definitely come back again!
Elly was a very nice host. She made us feel very comfortable. We really enjoyed our time in Florence and at her rental. She let us know about various restaurants in the area as well as places to visit. She also had some guidebooks on Florence available. Everything in Florence was walking distances. Although, I did try to make the Fiorentina soccer/football game, but didn't realize I needed a passport to get into the game. I had a great time none the less. During Easter Sunday the exploding cart is a must see.
Elly was a super host. She even brought us coffee filters when we couldn't find them in the store. The apartment was beautifully decorated and comfortable. The kitchen was a little small, but who wants to cook in Tuscany!
Good location, 5 mins walk from station. The owner prepared welcome gift for our arrival with bread n jam for next day and also a bottle of wine.
Elly is so friendly, she make sure we know how to get around with the maps and recommended places for food and drinks. She also demo on how to lock the door ensuring we know before leaving the place.
The accommodation is exactly as pictured, lovely and cozy. We certainly love it. The bar nearby werent that noisy as some reviews mentioned. We stayed 3 nights and wasn't disturb at all. Maybe keeping the windows shut just does the trick.
Supermarkets and cafes just nearby walk. Btw the cafe just round the corner from the apartment serve affordable and yummy sandwiches with great people too!
Love our stay, panorama view of florence (as highlighted by elly)! Will stay here if we are back in florence again!
My partner and I loved our 5-night stay at Elly/Rita's place. First, the location is perfect: right next to the Torre di San Niccolo at the bottom of the hill paths up to the Piazzale Michelangelo. It's in a lovely, close-in Oltrarno neighborhood, just 1 block off the River Arno, a 10 minute walk to the Ponte Vecchio, just east of the Ponte alle Grazie bridge. There's a lively mix of enotecas, restaurants, bars, and artisans' shops just out the front door, and it's a super easy walk across the river to all the sights of old Florence -- Uffizi, Duomo, Palazzo Vecchio, Santa Croce, etc. On the Oltrarno side, we easily walked to the Pitti Palace, the Boboli and Bardini Gardens, up to Piazzale Michelangelo, and to San Miniato.
The apartment is a walk-up on the 4th floor (or "3rd floor" as Europeans would have it) of an older building. A lovely front room faces onto the Via di San Niccolo; the back of the apartment has a tiny terrace with a garden table, just off the kitchen, facing onto an interior courtyard. There is 1 real bedroom with its own full bath. There is a separate 2nd full bath off the main hall. The apartment truly feels like the home of an artistic, well-traveled woman: lots of art and ceramics from around the world, shelves full of books. Because it's truly a lived-in home, it's very well "stocked" with kitchen supplies, extra linens, etc. One note: except for the front room (pictured), the apartment is quite dark, especially the bedroom, which has no real window to the outside. That wasn't a problem, though; we spent very little time there during the day because of all there was to see in Florence. At nights, we just flipped on all the lights. The bed was very comfortable.
Elly, who manages the property for its owner Rita, was very . responsive and flexible. We were a little uncertain about our arrival schedule until the day before arriving. Still, Elly met us at the front door on our first day with keys in hand, WiFi instructions, and lots of great suggestions for places to go to happy hour and to eat in the Oltrarno neighborhood.
We would highly recommend this "Santa Croce and Old Bridge" apartment to anyone who wants immediate access to the sights of Florence in a homey environment in a lovely, walkable, reasonably quiet neighborhood.
