My partner and I loved our 5-night stay at Elly/Rita's place. First, the location is perfect: right next to the Torre di San Niccolo at the bottom of the hill paths up to the Piazzale Michelangelo. It's in a lovely, close-in Oltrarno neighborhood, just 1 block off the River Arno, a 10 minute walk to the Ponte Vecchio, just east of the Ponte alle Grazie bridge. There's a lively mix of enotecas, restaurants, bars, and artisans' shops just out the front door, and it's a super easy walk across the river to all the sights of old Florence -- Uffizi, Duomo, Palazzo Vecchio, Santa Croce, etc. On the Oltrarno side, we easily walked to the Pitti Palace, the Boboli and Bardini Gardens, up to Piazzale Michelangelo, and to San Miniato.
The apartment is a walk-up on the 4th floor (or "3rd floor" as Europeans would have it) of an older building. A lovely front room faces onto the Via di San Niccolo; the back of the apartment has a tiny terrace with a garden table, just off the kitchen, facing onto an interior courtyard. There is 1 real bedroom with its own full bath. There is a separate 2nd full bath off the main hall. The apartment truly feels like the home of an artistic, well-traveled woman: lots of art and ceramics from around the world, shelves full of books. Because it's truly a lived-in home, it's very well "stocked" with kitchen supplies, extra linens, etc. One note: except for the front room (pictured), the apartment is quite dark, especially the bedroom, which has no real window to the outside. That wasn't a problem, though; we spent very little time there during the day because of all there was to see in Florence. At nights, we just flipped on all the lights. The bed was very comfortable.
Elly, who manages the property for its owner Rita, was very . responsive and flexible. We were a little uncertain about our arrival schedule until the day before arriving. Still, Elly met us at the front door on our first day with keys in hand, WiFi instructions, and lots of great suggestions for places to go to happy hour and to eat in the Oltrarno neighborhood.
We would highly recommend this "Santa Croce and Old Bridge" apartment to anyone who wants immediate access to the sights of Florence in a homey environment in a lovely, walkable, reasonably quiet neighborhood.
The apartment was absolutely gorgeous: spacious, well appointed and stunningly decorated. Even the photos don't do it justice. There was plenty of room for our family of five. The location was fabulous, just down from the lovely Piazza Santo Spirito with its great restaurants and an excellent bakery downstairs. ELLY was a wonderful host: very welcoming and full of really terrific recommendations, especially about good places to eat! We highly recommend Elegance Angeli Maison.
Elly and Fiorenza (the owner) are both wonderful and lovely! I feel in love with this apartment! Fiorenza had made me a pear tart and had wine from the area they live waiting for me. I stayed for an entire month and I wish I could live there indefinitely!!! This place is a gem. I love love the area. It's perfect. Great coffee shops, markets, places for aperitivo and heavenly restaurants! And its close to the center without being in the chaos. Thank you both for such a wonderful spot and making me feel at home. Keep in touch! I hope to be back :)
this apartment is outside the tourist area but within an easy walk to all attractions. the apartment had everything that you would need for a happy long stay. there is a friendly local cafe / bar on the corner which is very handy!
Elly is very nice and very responsive. The apartment is beautiful inside, with lots of space. And it's just 50 meters/yards from the beautiful Piazza Santa Croce.
This aparment was perfect as the pictures!Elly wad extremely helpful both before and during our stay and the room itself was fabulous! Great location, beautiful interior. We had a fantastic stay in Florance and would definitely recommend this place to anyone! Many thanks!
No tuvimos ningun inconveniente. El departamento esta muy bien ubicado . Realmente muy recomendable!!!
An absolutely marvellous place in the Oltrarno, a stone's throw from Santo Spirito, a beautiful church on a lovely and lively square. Both quiet and buzzy, the neighbourhood is perfect for getting away from the crowds but also accessing all parts of the city. With lots of artisan workshops, antique shops, mall osterias and bars nearby, the location couldn't be better. And the apartment itself could not be more lovely. Original 17th-century painted ceilings and other period elements make lounging about on the daybed or gazing at the artwork an extension of enjoying this beautiful city itself. High ceilings and large rooms give a great sense of space, and since they have moved the bed into a room that's away from the street, we had no issues with noise (which I believe was an issue for earlier visitors). Elly could not be a kinder, more communicative host, and her many suggestions for enjoying the city were spot on. We'd return here without a second thought.
