I´m from New York City, Queens, and I have lived in Barcelona for a little over a year now. My parents are from Galicia so I have spent my summers there since I was a baby. I love Galicia and everything about it - the people, the beaches, the seafood, the food culture and their wine. I am also enjoying Barcelona very much and the differences between the Gallego culture and the Catalan culture continue to pleasantly surprise me.
In NYC I had a bigger apartment in which I would rent out the spare bedroom to visitors. I have gotten to know many people this way. The best part was that I learned a lot about the city as well. When you show people around your city it is inevitable that you learn new things. I think the best way to travel to a new destination to know someone there who can orient you and give you tips and advice that only a native would know.
One of the best things in live in traveling.
