Jeremy and I loved our stay at Birds and Breakfast!Mary and Roger were delightful and very hospitable, welcoming, and kind. As promised, they greeted us when we arrived, provided fresh fruit and light breakfast options (among many other necessities), and made delicious blueberry pancakes on Sunday morning. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and they gave us a key chain to take home with us =) It was affordable and better than staying at a hotel or BnB on the shore.
Extra Perks: They let Jeremy and I play on the tractor and see Roger's vintage cars - since Jeremy is the inquisitive type, he absolutely loved all learning about cars, coy, masonry, seniors, table saws, etc.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and their company. We highly recommend them and would love to come back soon!
This quiet and comfortable home with nearby woodlands and wetlands were the perfect place to get a good feel for the Cape May district. Mary and Roger were most welcoming and good company. The quarters are well organised with attention to detail. Highly recommended.
Mary and Roger made my wife and I feel at home with them. They took every opportunity to make our stay more than enjoyable.
The location and setting for their home is unique - a fountain, gardens, and coy pond in a home they built. And did I mention Roger's famous pancakes on Sunday. Wonderful.
You will enjoy every minute...
Roger and Mary's home is located in north Cape May county, a lovely area away from the touristy crowds. Many natural places of beauty to see. Their place is quiet and clean, and the hosts were friendly. I got tips of where to visit and good tips of where to eat. Highly recommended.
Mary and Roger are incredible hosts. We arrived as strangers and left as friends. Their place was very clean and comfortable. The landscaping is beautiful.
Our experience was exceptional and we would highly recommend the Leith home for alternative lodging. The host and hostess are helpful concerning local activities and sightseeing, but never intrusive. There are many thoughtful details: snacks and beverages in the 'frig'; fruit in the bowl; bath mat for the shower; clothes line for wet towels and clothes; use of the pool in its serene and peaceful backyard setting. I find few truly clean hotels, but I noticed that the Leith home is truly clean. The beds and pillows were comfortable as well. A separate entrance makes it possible
to return late at night without bothering anyone. They know how to give of themselves in order to create a truly comfortable space. This home is a short drive to Cape May with its beaches, bike rentals, cute shops, theatre, fishing, and fabulous restaurants. The inns in town were either full or too expensive to suit my last minute plans. Airbnb to the rescue! There are many places nearby as well such as a zoo, nature trails, lovely gardens, and a great yoga studio.
I made a reservation for my friend from Poland. They loved your place in every (website hidden) my and their behalf I would love to send thanks for great accommodation and wonderful help .Hope to meet you guys in person next year
My friend and I spent a great Labor Day weekend at Mary and Roger's place. I liked the house from the moment I saw it on Airbnb and was happy to meet the even more amazing hosts when we got there. Interesting place, beautiful garden a pond, a pool and fruit trees. Mary gave me some delicious herbs and Roger offered us some pears form the garden when we were leaving. Pears were so flavorful and most importantly organic.
Our room with an adjacent bathroom was immaculately clean as well as the rest of the guests areas.
We loved the Avalon beach just about 10 min drive from the house. The best beach in the area!!!
Cape May is 20 min away and we managed to visit it twice, spent some time downtown and watched the sunset on Sunset Beach.
And the highlight of my stay was the speedy ride Roger gave me in his vintage 1970 Chevelle SS ( I don't know how I earned that?!?, I guess just nice people)
We had a truly delightful experience at Roger and Mary's and we will definitely be back again.
We're really not surprised with all the great reviews Roger and Mary have gotten. They were very kind hearted and generous. It was great to spend two nights there, it feels that they really enjoy what they're doing. We used the pool, made some popcorn and picked some pears right off the tree, we felt right at home. It was a quick drive to the beaches. We are looking forward to visiting again next year.
It took me a while to write this, sorry Roger + Mary!!
Roger and Mary were outstanding hosts... I can't think of a better way to put it. They were communicative before we arrived, and were waiting for us outside when we pulled up to their place.
They were friendly and laid back, but NO slouches!! You should see the place... A lovely back garden with a pool, seating, a pond. Then inside, our room was simply and perfectly appointed. Smaller room, but perfect for us. Plenty of towels, nice bed, dresser, bedside table + lamp... Like a little hotel room :-D!! There was even a common area with a sofa, fridge, microwave, toaster oven, cereal, juice, snacks... Holy crap!! We brought our own food, but WOW, talk about hospitality... I mean, it really is a "Bed and Breakfast" in that sense!
They were knowledgeable about the area (as one would hope), friendly, warm, and just great hosts...
I feel like this is what AirBnB should be all about... Reasonably priced accommodations, great hosts, and of course great guests :-D, and a different (and positive) experience every time.
We had a lovely stay too, and the location was perfect also. It bothers me when I read reviews where people bitch and moan about the location... USE THE MAP, and ask the hosts for an address!! Not hard, one would think...! We were a 5-15 minute drive from everywhere we wanted to be.
I would recommend "Birds and Breakfast" to ANYONE. We wish Mary and Roger all the best, and would love to stay again some time!
