Ashley and her husband Ron live aboard a boat and both work in the marine industry. They love boating and SCUBA diving and their best vacation is somewhere warm with deep blue water all around.
This place is unique and great. The boat is very cool, and a great spot away from hustle and bustle. Pretty views of the river, and comfortable sleeping quarters. Ron and Ashley were very helpful and great hosts.
You won't find sweeter more helpful hosts or more delightful accommodations than this... It just doesn't get any better!!! A beautiful, spotlessly clean, comfy, roomy yacht... Thoughtful hosts who are happy to give help when asked but also respect your privacy... well appointed amenities (lots of fluffy clean towels, basic breakfast foods, seasonings, cooking utensils, even a blow dryer!)... Delightful ambience of the water and surroundings... Grocery store and access to downtown Portland just minutes away... Very safe and security is a priority for guests... JUST WOW. WE WILL BE BACK. If you come to Portland you HAVE to stay with Ashley. Skookum Canoe will be my first choice EVERY TIME. NO complaints. Everything was perfect! We cant wait to come back. Thank you Ashley!!!
One of the greatest things about Airbnb is finding unique places like this to stay. My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole boat experience and Ashley, the hostess, was so very genuinely accommodating from our first meeting to showing us around every detail of the boat. We really loved hearing the soundtrack of rain drizzling on the roof at night and curling up to some of the books that were available there. The place itself is a super quick drive to Portland and found that it was also a quick drive to Vancouver, WA which was fun. The boat is spacious and never really felt cramped, the bed was comfy and the kitchen and fridge (she got us jam and English muffins, so cute!) were well stocked.
We would most definitely recommend this place to any of our dearest friends or family as it made our trip experience to Portland something we will never forget.
The Skookum Canoe is a luxurious experience. The host was gracious and gave my daughter and me the thorough tour of all the boat's features and how to make use of each, from heaters, to stove, to wifi; the useage of everything was clear. The experience on the boat was one I hope to repeat again and one which I'll recommend to friends. The accommodations were comfortable, cooking in the morning was pleasurable, and sitting in the swivel rocker with a steaming cup of coffee while the sun rise streamed through the sliding glass door was highly satisfiying. I highly recommend the Skookum Canoe for travelers needing a peaceful break from cars, cities, and noise. There is nothing quite like the sound of boats in a harbor, gently swaying in the breeze.
Both Ashley and Ron were exceptionally accommodating, Ron stayed up till past 11 pm to greet me and show me to the boat (my plan was delayed). The shared accommodation was great, and everything worked well.
Very positive experience would highly recommend this accommodation and especially Ashley and Ron.
Cheers and thanks

Took a trip to visit Portland, and decided last minute I should try to stay somewhere different for one night. That is when I found Ashley's place! Very well kept marina and the boat was in great condition. I got in late and they were still more than welcoming. Awoke to a great cup of tea at sunrise along with a life changing conversation with a hilarious British Doctor. What more can one ask for?
Had a great experience aboard the Zephyr. Ron met us in the parking lot and showed us around. The heating system is not yet up and running but Ron had set up and turned several electric heaters prior to our arrival to make sure we were comfortable. The heaters did a pretty good job of keeping us warm.
We had the boat to ourselves which was a lot of fun, not sure what it would have been like to share the cabin (minus the sleeping area) with another party. And with a big group, you will definitely need to use the marina bathroom (which is very clean) in addition to the one on the boat.
Loved the big flat screen TV in the cabin and the fully-stocked kitchen. Ron (and Ashley) are great hosts. The view is beautiful, you can even see Mt Hood in distance. Wish I could post a picture of the sunrise! Overall, a very, very fun and unique experience! They mentioned they will be doing charters later on when the boat is finished. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for those.
We had a wonderful stay on the Skookum Canoe. I loved the setting and the boat itself was really nice. Just what I was looking for. There is a really nice little cafe filled with interesting people at the top of the marina and we really enjoyed stopping there for breakfast. I have no hesitation in recommending the boat and look forward to staying there again when the opportunity presents itself.
We had a great time staying on the Zephyr. It's a surprisingly large boat and offers quite a few amenities. We stayed here during a large windstorm and didn't even notice the boat rocking a little bit during the night. Ashley was a great host and was kind enough to give a tour of the ship as well as some muffins for breakfast! It offers some great views of the Columbia and is conveniently located right off of I-5.
