Emiliano and Azha went over and beyond what any guest can expect: they were attentionate, helpful and their list of favourite addresses was filled with gems. I stayed there with my family for five nights and we all fell under the charm: the apartment is luminous, spacy and full of character. I have been to DF quite a few times, but this area was new to me, and what a pleasant surprise it was! It still features the unpretentious flavour of "old" Mexico City (the dance parties at Parque Ciudadela, the taqueros, etc.) while being within a walking distance of world-class destinations such as the Palacio de Bellas Artes, gourmet Mercado San Juan and the very happening Roma Norte area. Would return anytime.
I would definitely stay here again. We loved this place. There were three of us. We spent our initial night in a small hotel room and then moved to Emiliano's and Aza's place. The apartment is very spacious, so we were really happy to be able to spread out (for about the same cost per night or a little less). It was also very bright and we loved the artsy decor. The futon in the front room worked perfectly as an extra bed. Aza gave us an overview of the place and the neighbourhood and made some recommendations which were very helpful. Location is great... very close to a metro station which made getting around super easy, and close to a food market, a large artisan craft market and the library which is a very nice building itself and worth walking through. Filtered water is available in the apartment, which was really nice since it cut down on having to buy bottled water. I would recommend an Argentinian restaurant a few blocks away called Pepe's, mostly because the owner (Pepe) is just such a great person.
This apartment is extremely attractive and well-furnished. The hosts were in touch, available and accommodating. The location was handy for the Metro and was only 3 minutes from Arena Mexico, home of lucha libre. There are some quirks to the apartment but these are no big deal as it has so many benefits. I would stay again if it was available.
Emiliano and Azha are amazing hosts. Very easy to communicate with and very prompt! The apartment is gorgeous, centrally located (near the Metro, 3/8 cafe, The artisan Market - close to everywhere you'd like to go). We felt very safe in the neighborhood and had everything you needed for a home away from home. They even had a house phone to use to make local calls like taxis or make reservations etc. I highly recommend staying here.
Absolutely perfect. Very charming spacious apartment in the perfect location between the centre and Roma/Condesa. Most things are walkable, and if you don’t fancy that, the metro and metro bus are just around the corner. The Mercado San Juan is 5 mins away and if you like food you will adore it. Great communication with Emiliano. Fabulous experience, many, many thanks.
Emiliano has a lovely old apartment with high ceilings, plenty of space and lots of light. He is also a terrific host and made us feel right at home. The bed is really comfy and the apartment has all the amenities you need. The bathroom is a little small and there is no hot water in the kitchen, but really, these are minor things that do not spoil the overall experience. The apartment is conveniently located right near the metro and it is also perfectly possible to walk to lively areas of the city such as the Roma, Condesa and Centro neighbourhoods. The metro will also take you straight to terrific attractions such as Chapultepec Park and the Frida Kahlo museum. If you're looking for a comfortable, homely place with plenty of character in Mexico City, this is it.
Emiliano and Azhaa were awesome hosts. They were super helpful and patient with us.
Their place is beautiful and full of character. The immediate neighbourhood is super quaint and the apartment is princely located within walking distance of Roma, Reforma, Centro Historico and the super touristy Zona Rosa.
The water pressure in the kitchen was a bummer but we didn't really use the kitchen much so it worked out ok.
Writer’s dream. Livable, low key, might want to make you move to Mexico. Unique, little bit funky, gorgeous, not so quiet but right next to the National (Ciudadela) Library, a renovated 18th century cigar factory, which is also gorgeous and a quiet place to go read or write. Great cafe and place to eat on the corner. Nothing pretentious in the neighborhood. Eat lunch inside San Juan market, then get produce cook dinner in the big well equipped kitchen. Hang out in the hammock, work in the study or at the big table in the dining room. Walk to Centro by day, walk to Roma at night. Balderas metro right outside is direct to the center, or to Chapultepec, or to Coyoacan, and has great foodstands at the enterance. Emiliano is completely mellow and responsible. We were so lucky to be able to stay at his place.
Emiliano's place is great. It is bright, centrally located and well furnished with all the basic amenities to have a comfortable stay. Emiliano was available for any concerns or questions that came up. Since I stayed at the apartment for a month Emiliano had a maid come by weekly. That really helped keep the place in order while I was running around enjoying the city and working. It's ideal for a couple or a single person.
This was the best place to stay in Mexico City. I've visited the DF many times and this was the best place to stay yet. Emiliano and Asa are sweet and helpful, their apartment is BIG and sunny and located within walking distance to metro Balderas, near parks, Mercado Juarez and in walking distance to Colonia Roma.
I loved staying here and would HIGHLY recommend it.
