Fun and active Washingtonians with a great social network, a keen understanding of the city and a knack for roof top gardening. Looking forward to meeting new people from points near and far -- people who come as guests and leave as friends.

I stayed with Amy and Adam for a month and that certainly was my best month in the DC area. Their house and guest room are tastefully decorated and Amy and Adam are naturally inclined to take an interest in their guests' well-being and comfort. During my stay I enjoyed numerous discussions with both of them, followed their city tips for everything I was looking for and certainly had an amazing time. Make sure to not miss their awesome Washington moonlight tour :)
What a wonderful Airbnb experience! I stayed with Amy and Adam for four weeks while doing research at the National Archives and the Library of Congress. Their place is beautiful (much nicer than my real house!), clean, and super convenient to everywhere I needed to go. They were friendly and warm, made me two delicious dinners, invited me to do things with them and their friends, and welcomed me with little extras, like hotel-sized bath products and a basket of tasty treats. The suite gave me ample privacy, but I also made use of the common areas--their state of the art kitchen, flat-screen TV, and toasty gas fireplace. Know that there is a little noise from the street at night, but it was never a problem for me. Amy supplies guests with eye masks and earplugs, and with the comfortable bed and fluffy comforter, I slept like a baby!
Amy and Adam were amazing Hosts. They made us feel very welcome. Their home is immaculate and so comfortable. Our bedroom and private bath were excellent and offered all the necessities ones need when traveling. The bedroom was light and bright, plenty of wonderful windows, something unusual for DC. We give their home a five star rating. Amy is a true chef. We were blessed with sharing an amazing meal with them. The location of the carriage house was idea for us. It was only 2 blocks away from the Metro and the bike share program was only a block away. Their neighborhood felt very safe. To go downtown its not far by metro or bike. We also host folks at our home in Colorado. This was our first Airbnb experience as a guest. We learned a few pointers. It was good to be on the receiving end of being a guest. We would highly recommend Amy and Adams home.
This was our first time Airbnb experience and we loved it!
We just moved to DC and stayed with Amy and Adam for 10 days, until we found a place to rent. We decided to give Airbnb a try originally willing to save money but we couldn't have a better decision. Our experience was way better than if we had stayed in a hotel.
The bedroom looks like it is in a picture. The house is lovely. Amy thinks in every detail.
Amy and Adam are amazing hosts! Amy is very resourceful about DC. She gave us good advises about the city from places to eat to furniture stores and how to get around the city. There are may places to eat close to their (email hidden).
At the end of the day we ended up renting the place she had referred. Sometime it feel we were staying in old good friends.
Amy made us feel very welcomed. The room was just as described and in the picture. We felt very safe in the neighborhood at all times. It was a great stay and a chance to experience the real Washington DC.
The room accomodation is accurately depicted in the photos.
The accomodations are immaculate and every detail had been thought out, including sleeping masks and a drawer full of extra toiletry needs in case anything is forgotten. We arrived when the owner wasn't there and detailed instructions had been provided via email along with sticky notes throughout the property; the host was always available by phone or text to answer questions that might come up.
A long time resident of DC, the owner also provided a wealth of knowledge regarding restaurants and sights to see. We missed our dog so her beautiful pomeranian (so smart and well behaved) allowed us to love her up every night when we returned from sight seeing and spending time with our daughter.
We had a bit of trouble with the alarm system and accidentally set it off one too many times, but the host was quite good natured about it!
The home is conveniently located 2 blocks from a metro stop, along with a drug store, grocery store, and excellent coffee shop. A short walk will take you to restaurants and a larger shopping area.
All t's are crossed and i's dotted here and the host is friendly and enthusiastic about sharing her home!
I stayed with Amy and Adam for one month and I really enjoyed it.
I really love their house because it is clean, well-equipped and so cozy. It is also pretty close to the Metro and several supermarkets.
Amy and Adam:
Amy and Adam are really caringly and did a great job showing me where to go to and what to see in Washington.
I highly recommend staying with Amy and Adam if youre in Washington.
This was my very first Airbnb experience and I couldn't imagine a better one. I stayed with Amy, Adam, and Sake for 10 weeks while I interned in College Park and they were amazing hosts from start to finish! On my very first day, they immediately welcomed me into their home, helped me carry my bags in, and gave me some time to get settled before giving me the grand tour of the place. They also very sweetly had put together a little welcome basket of food to help me get started and made a yummy dinner that night so we could get to know each other. I felt like we became fast friends and part of “the pack” according to Sake, who quickly had me wrapped around her paw. They made be feel very comfortable and at home. I never felt the need to tip toe around them or like I was bothering them. I had a great time hanging out with them in the evening and on the weekend when I wasn’t working. We shared many glasses of wine, great meals, and Netflix binge watching sessions. One time, Amy even experimented with salmon made in the dishwasher and it was super yummy! They were also very helpful with any questions I had throughout my stay and when I was getting ready to leave. The listing is exactly as pictured and the rest of their home is just as beautiful and very clean. They also have a nice rooftop deck, which is a super relaxing place to hang out especially in the evening. Their home is located super close to metro and bus stops and a bike share so it was easy to get around. There are also Zipcars close by, but I didn’t need to use a car the entire time I was there. A CVS is located across the street and a Yes!Organic, farmers market (on Saturdays), DC Public Library and post office aren’t too far away either. There were also new developments in the neighborhood while I stayed with them–a Safeway (3 blocks away) and a yoga studio (4 blocks away). Columbia Heights is an easy 10 minute walk away with a Giant supermarket, froyo place, and other restaurants. Amy and Adam were also great about giving me a list of recommended restaurants nearby and in other areas of DC.
This was our very first Airbnb experience and will now be forever hard to top! Amy and her husband Adam and the cutest pom pup ever, Sake were so friendly and hospitable. The room was beautiful, spacious, and clean. The attached bathroom and adjacent rooftop patio were wonderful useful amenities. The place was incredibly close to the metro and a great neighborhood close to lots of local hot spots with varying ambiances and lots of variety. Anyone would be lucky to stay here; highly recommend booking with Amy!
Beautiful space. Amy was very helpful. She was traveling during our arrival and she made the checkin experience easy. We spoke in advance and her Welcome Guide was also helpful.
The neighborhood is safe, we walked back from downtown our first evening. The roof deck is also worth the stay, especially if you like to grill. We enjoyed the deck the first night then it rained for 50+ hours.
We enjoyed our rainy stay in DC. The kitchen is also gorgeous, Amy loves to cook and so do we! Very clean and well ordered home. Fantastic light in the private room. I also loved having a private bathroom.
Great guests. A pleasure to work with. I look forward to having them again in the future!
Amy, Adam and their little Lassie type dog were all excellent guests. Polite, respectful and great at communicating travel plans. We would love to have them back to Camp Grits. Very lovely friendly folks, can't recommend them enough.
We loved Amy and Adam, amazing guests that we hope they can come back and see us again soon. Here to go to The Harvester Performance Center which is walkable from us here at The Claiborne House B&B!
We were upgrading them to the Sierra Suite as a special treat and Amy had some allergy issues. We had a guy sneak in a Dalmation puppy and we had him remove it! Yes it was cute, but this is why we have a no-pets policy.
Thank you Amy and Adam, you guys rock!
Amy and friends came to Dublin as a starter course for their trip to Ireland, they settled in really quickly and I they enjoyed the cottage and it location. Nice people, and respectfull guests - recommended.
Amy was the perfect guest, patient, good humored and a rule follower to the hilt! She was spectacularly patient with me as well, in the midst of a transition when I needed her patience. Thank you Amy and Adam.
Amy was a very nice fellow Michigander like me! She and her friend were very pleasant, clean, respectful and great with communicating their arrival and dearture times. They were kind enough to tolerate the extra dog we had. They had an adorable pup and I would happily host them again anytime!
Consider this: The newly assembled antique bed in the apartment fell in while Amy was my guest. She not only slept on the couch, but laughed about it and was gracious about it the next day. What more can one ask for?
Amy was a great guest. Left the place tidy and was a pleasure to meet. I would welcome her again.
Amy and her grandma Carol stayed over at our place. They are such lovely and warm people. We really enjoyed having them as guests. They were on a mission to discover Montreal in a couple of days. We must say Carol is in great shape for her age! :) We highly recommend them to any host.
Hope you guys had fun in Montreal and enjoyed the rest of your roadtrip!

Amy is a perfect guest, very polite, very easy to talk too.
I'm a friend of Amy and Adam's and therefore, I know what a beautiful home they have as well as what kind and generous people they are.
When my dad and step brother were coming to the area for about a week and were looking for an airbnb place to stay, I knew it would be a great fit. Amy and Adam ever so graciously opened their home to them and truly made them feel like part of the family because they are my family. Amy even set up an air mattress in a little nook on the first floor so that Ben could feel like he at least have a little privacy. We made dinner together a couple of times. Amy and Adam were dog sitting part of the time that my family was there, but they frequently checked in to make sure they had everything they need, including when a leaking water alarm was malfunctioning and going off in the hot water heater closet.
Lastly, the place is just so convenient. The perfect distance from the Petworth metro, a nice walk to an organic grocery store, and even quicker to an AWESOME local wine & spirits store, as well as a bunch of bars/restaurants. I always feel safe in their neighborhood and I was so grateful to have my family staying somewhere safe that was also incredibly accessible to me as a female without a car.
Thank you, Amy and Adam, for everything!!
Amy, Adam and Sake are the most welcoming, kind and friendly bunch a traveler could hope to share a home with! Their home is ideally located by a metro, bus stops and a Capital Bike Share station, making commuting inexpensive and easy! Amy and I have known each other for years and believe you would be crazy to go anywhere else....You will laugh or smile, just being around the lot of them, as they make evereyone feel welcome and at home! You will find it easy to negotiate the city because of the amazing amount of information Amy possesses, after living in DC for over a decade.... You will become their friend and after you have gone, you will most likely find yourself smiling at some random time, because you will recall a moment shared with them and be grateful you made them a part of your Airbnb adventure!
Amy's home is always a welcoming oasis to an AirBnB traveller. Impeccably adorned and always well kept, her clean quiet home is a great starting point to an adventure in DC or the perfect, relaxing place to come back to after a long day of touring DC. Amy always strives to make her guests feel at home. She's fun, engaging and informative and truly values the friendships she makes with the folks that stay with her.
Amy is great people! I'm a friend and haven't visited her in D.C., but I fondly recall a time when I needed emergency accommodations and she graciously took me in for the night and it was if I were at a hotel. Before, airbnb days, but her guest room was SO very charming and comfortable. Always, a great hostess!
Amy is a fantastic person with a big heart. I've known her long enough to know she would give anything to anyone without their needing to ask. I'd highly recommend staying with her or at her place.
