Garcia's unit is great, because this unit is near the beach, easy to use, cleanliness and functional. If we have a chance to go to Haleiwa, I'd like to stay there once again. It is only too true that we didn't meet Garcia.
I have to say that the north shore is amazing!!! Words can't describe how close the house is to the places we wanted to go. Shark diving is about 1 min away good food about 5 min drive to the town center. I didn't meet the host but the house was perfect specially the snorkeling gear n umbrella came in handy. Great beaches are nearby besides the one across the street ! Lol. Can't get better then that. Try sunset beach and sharks cove for snorkeling.. Def would comeback and visit this amazing town.
P.s I bought a lot of shirts and shorts that you won't find in NYC.
This place is great!!
Host is kind and everything clean.
I would like to stay there again.
We loved our experience at Hale Kaupe II. It was beautiful, quiet, well-appointed, and in a wonderful location. The Garcia family is so wonderful and inviting and we cannot say enough good things about our time there. We cannot wait to go back.
The listing was walking distance from downtown North Shore. We loved the little beach town. We were completely happy with it!
My experience was EXCELLENT!
I never met my hosts but it was all ready and set upon my arrival. The stuio Hale Kaupe II is really nice and the bed is so confortable I had great night sleep. The bathroom has a lot of space and it's cozy. The patio deck was really cool and every morning I would prepare a local breakfast: Acai sorbet, granola, mango, papaya, banana and wiki, with a local Kone ice coffee lying in the tan beds.
The apartment in general was more than what I needed and it is 200 feet from the beach so it was great to wake up in the morning to go surfing or snorkeling. At this same beach which has the coolest family vibe in the evening with local families that go surfing. The house was walking distance from the diving shop I arranged my scuba diving adventures.
In the water right outside the house I snorkeled and I spotted 5 turtles and 1 baby eagle ray.
There is a bus stop very near that takes you to the famous Sunset Beach, Pipeline, Waimea Bay and Sharks Cove in 10-15 min and Turtle Bay in 20min.
Place as described and even though pics are from 2012, place is just as nice as illustrated on site. It was a nice stay. Very very close to the beach. We loved the AC! The bathroom was nicely updated. Quiet despite the place is located on busy road. We could've used more than one bath towel a person though. Other than that, everything was great.
Where do I begin with Garcia Ohana? I almost don't want to write this review for fear it will become so popular I may not have the chance to stay here again!
Kanoelani was here to welcome us on our arrival. She's so sweet and made us feel right at home. The apartment is up a different staircase from the main house, so we didn't feel like we were disturbing anyone's daily routine - and were able to come and go as we pleased.
The room is very stylish, and comfortable. The foam top mattress is a pleasant touch. I especially loved coming home from the beach to shower with stones underfoot. ☺️ There is a lot of attention to detail in this space, and by far the best little apartment I've stayed in to date.
I actually loved it here so much I decided to rent for an extra two days after my husband went home, and hope that next year we can be a guest of the Garcias again.
Thanks for your hospitality
Amazing stay at Garcia Ohana!
The place was beautiful and in a great location, easy walk to town for meals and shopping, etc. Would definitely recommend bringing a rental car as the North Shore is much easier with that type of transportation.
Everything was so clean and beautifully decorated. Even had snorkel sets to borrow and also beach towels, boogie/body boards, umbrella... if we needed them.
The family left bananas out for us to grab for a snack and we enjoyed the cute little bright green geckos on the gate outside.
Tropical oasis to the max!
So in love with the bathroom :P Stunning shower and floors.
Lots of privacy here too. Only saw Kai and the kids twice and when we did they were very friendly.
There isn't access to any laundry machines on site so keep that in mind.
As for the area:
Highly recommend snorkeling with the sea turtles at Laniakea Beach before sunset! Go down to the actual sandy beach not the rocky area.
Waimea Bay is awesome. Went and jumped off the rocks and left a bit sore but it was worth it for the experience. Also enjoyed the 1 km walk through the botanical gardens across the street from the bay.
Haleiwa Joes near the harbor offers a great special occasion dinner, we had a fantastic anniversary meal here.
Town had lots of cute shops to wander through.
We had an amazing time staying at the Garcia Ohana house (it took me an embarrassing amount of time to realize "ohana" means "family", and that Garcia Ohana is not the name of a person...). The owners work off the island during the week, so we didn't interact with the family much. We did run into the wife and daughter once, and they were very very nice and welcoming.
The unit we stayed in was very private, clean, and comfy. In terms of important amenities, there is A/C for when you get hot, a nice bathroom, and a great balcony overlooking the backyard/garden. There's also wifi and a TV, but you really won't use either much b/c you'll want to go exploring!
The neighborhood is very quiet/peaceful, and the house is ideally located. It's right across the street from a beach park, and a short walk from several restaurants/food trucks. The local downtown area with shops, etc. is also walking distance away (maybe 10 minutes). There, you can find lots of cute stores, surf/kayak rental shops, a fabulous coffee shop, a couple grocery markets, and the best shave ice in Haleiwa (Matsumoto's). Also, a shrimp truck that's been featured on the Travel Channel (Giovanni's...I think).
If you have a car, you can drive a few miles away to other beaches. My husband and I did that almost every morning, and we were pretty much the only people on "our" beach every time. Compared to the packed, touristy resort beaches of Waikiki (which we went to later in the week), these quiet, isolated spots were heaven!
Bottom line: had an amazing time here, wish we could have stayed at the Garcia Ohana house for longer, and will definitely be back some day!
