We spent 4 days in Meredith's apartment, which is not big but fine for 2 people, very very quiet, the bed is very comfortable, the internet connection good. We didn't cook, but the kitchen seems to be functional, even if there is no table to have diner (but it didn't bother us, we wanted to see NYC!) .
The street is also very quiet, with trees and shops.
The apartement is close to the subway (2 blocks), only 10 minutes (walking) far from Central Park and the MET.
It was our first Airbnb experience, and Meredith was a great and kind host! She kept it touch with us before our trip by mail, answering to our questions (Yes! she provided me a hairdryer!), very quickly, a few hours only after our questions. During the stay, we kept in touch by mail, and Meredith authorized us to leave our luggage in her apartment after the last night, for the whole day, which was convenient. Meredith recommended us restaurants, groceries, shops, we ate in Candle Bar (good vegetarian food) and UVA (good italian food)
We recommend Meredith!!
Meredith's apartment is wonderfully located near the #6 train at Lexington and 77th St. It is a compact space with lots of windows for good air flow and a kitchen that very adequately allows simple meals preparation. Meredith herself is the biggest asset to her apartment. She stayed in touch throughout the rental process. She patiently and promptly answered every question I ever asked, was very solicitous about our needs, and left a great list of places/stores/markets/restaurants in her neighborhood so that we could be easily and quickly oriented. Another very big plus was how comfortable her queen sized bed was and that she was able to clear some space in her closet for our hanging clothes. The check-in and out were both very easy and quick too.
This is not a great apartment for someone who doesn't want to climb two flights of uneven, oddly canted, narrow steps, however, or for someone who wants a super clean space. It's an old building with old paint and uneven surfaces that make it hard to get really clean. It is a quiet apartment, however, at the back of the building with very little noise from any of the other residents or street. We had plenty of hot water and good internet connection. No real complaints. We had a great time there.
Meredith is a great host. She was very responsive before and during our stay, and arranged to meet us to give keys and show us around. She made us feel welcome and had prepared a long list of museums, shows, cafes, bars, grocery stores etc. in the area. On the day of departure she was able to come extra early as we had to catch a bus to Boston. We can recommend Meredith as a host!
The apartment is not big but fine for 2 people, cosy, quiet and functional. It has what you need. The street is leafy and pretty. The location is fantastic for exploring NY: walking distance to the Met, Guggenheim, Frick collection, Central Park, and lots of great places where to eat, have a drink or shop. Bus 79 is a few blocks away and conveniently goes 'crosstown' on 79th connecting Upper East and Upper West. Thank you Meredith for having us!
