We were very disappointed to find that this apartment did NOT sleep 6, but only 4. We were lucky that airbnb folks stepped in and provided rollaways so that everyone had a bed, but it was very cramped and a pain for everyone involved. Another stroke of luck was catching the cleaning staff on their way out and getting additional towels. The place was barely equipped for 2, let alone 6. If you get rollaways, be sure to ask for blankets and pillow cases. I wouldn't recommend this location to anyone but two couples with maybe two small kids.
One of the biggest frustrations was the lack of information. We discovered the cable and internet were turned off (as in unpaid bills) but were able to get passwords after asking and got both back on after two days. Instructions should just be available as a courtesy and not something we have to ask to get. We also had to sort out how to turn on the heat on our own which wasn't easy as the thermostat on the wall does nothing.
The place was fairly clean and quiet although funky at best. It was up two flights of steps which would have been good to know ahead of time. There were NO amenities like salt and pepper, we had to provide everything basic except soap and toilet paper and left it all behind. The kitchen was only marginally stocked with equipment. A vegetable peeler, cookie sheet or pans with lids that fit would have been nice.
The two queen beds are comfortable, but the sheets were too small and there were no bed pads so we fought with them all night. The laundry was in good condition and there was soap provided for the wash, as well as shampoo and conditioner in the shower and a hair dryer.
On the plus side was a great location, off street parking, lots of light and windows, an outside deck and nice garden below. Easy walking distance to everything all over Capitol Hill and just off the bus line to downtown.
Bedless in Seattle
We stayed in the 2-bedroom apartment for 5 nights in april. The neighbourhood is wonderful: lush and well connected to downtown. The apartment is nice as well: clean, kitchen to make breakfast and dinner, and a comfy shower.
However, the 2-bedroom apartment is suitable for up to 4 guests. Even though we indicated we would be a party of five and corresponded about this beforehand, we were one bed short when we arrived. The neighbour and our contact were very helpful in solving this issue for us. Also, be aware that you might need to ask for some information beforehand to prevent calling the hosts upon arrival (which is not so convenient for travelers from outside the US). In particular the code for the key (which we had beforehand) and the wifi network name and password (which we didn't have or find upon arrival).
After the initial hick-ups, we ended up having a really nice time in Capitol Hill and Seattle.
A group of 8 of us stayed in this apartment for two nights in February. We loved the space--big dining room table that could seat all 8 of us; nice, functional kitchen; two big couches (which pull out to double beds); and 3 bedrooms each with a full-size bed. The apartment is even nicer than it looks in the pictures. The property was perfectly clean and fresh linens and towels were provided. We felt very safe in the neighborhood, were able to park our car nearby, and enjoyed checking out the bakeries and pizza places in the area. If you are planning to spend a lot of time in Manhattan, expect a long commute, but I think it's worth it for the space. My only complaints were that one of the bedrooms is missing a door (so no privacy) and that communication with the host was sometimes difficult before and during our stay. So, for example, we were never able to find out the Wi-Fi password because no one responded to our calls/messages, so we were without internet for the trip. Many people contacted me after our stay to ask how everything went, which was nice, but no one checked in before or during the trip so there was a bit of confusion about check-in/check-out procedures and general information for our stay. I would still recommend this apartment to large groups looking for a safe, spacious apartment in a quiet neighborhood--we had a good stay, and the hosts were very nice.
We stayed in the apartment for 5 nights during New Year eve time.
The apartment is located in a good neighborhood; The neighbors were nice and welcoming.
The apartment is consisted of 3 bed rooms which have a double bed in each plus 2 living room sofas that can be used as 2 queen beds.
The apartment has everything you need to prepare your breakfast or dinner.
There is enough parking on the street if you are coming with your car. In worst case you will have to park a Block or two away
I stayed here for 2 nights, Frank was a great host; and was refreshing to c a host who genuinely cares, property very practical for the city, and accommodation was very comfortable. I would strongly recommend any of his properties; Vacations are all about having a gud time nd having a host like Frank is a big plus.
thanks nikhil you made it easy for me to be a great host ,come see us again in nyc!
Good location, interesting neighborhood, but place was so new it was pretty sterile. There was nothing personal to help us feel more at home. However, everything was clean and comfortable. The only problem we encountered was that the steam from the shower set off the smoke alarm! Of course, if you close the bathroom door, that doesn't happen.
This apartment is in an outstanding location. The hosts are welcoming and accommodating. Exceptionally clean with everything you need.
I really enjoyed staying in this cozy 1 bedroom in Capitol Hill! Not only was it very clean and tidy, but it was a block away from a ton of major bus stops and a major grocery store, and a 10 or 15 minute walk into the heart of Capitol Hill, which includes lots of fun restaurants, shops and nightlife. Since I was attending a conference downtown, it was nice to be able to commute quickly. While I originally emailed back and forth with Frank and Tracy, Rosemarie and her husband live in the front of the house (completely separate from this unit). They were very sweet and accommodating, and even brought over a pot of coffee, a plate of cheese and crackers, and a bottle of wine! You just CAN'T get that kind of hospitality at a hotel, and certainly not for the price of this place. If you're looking for convenience, charm, and cleanliness, look no further: This is the spot!
Had an amazing experience. The house is absolutely gorgeous. I had a great stay with no issues. The house was loved by all my friends and we had a great time in the pool, with the bbq, pool table, and the chef's kitchen!
