I work at the UC Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive. There are lots of art books in the house!

This Airbnb experience was very good and so much better than a hotel! Larry was a gracious host before my 'moving in' inviting me to dinner and providing me with the ins and outs of taking care of the house, plants, lovely cat, and unique features of the neighborhood so that I was comfortable 'taking over the place'. The location was convenient in terms of the Berkeley campus. Bart was about a 20 minute walk. The house was about 4-5 blocks to the food store (Whole Foods) and within a block or two there were several other stores, cafes, and restaurants. The atmosphere and feeling of the house and garden was peaceful with creative decorations and drawings, a pleasant space to be in alone or in the company of others. Two themes that could be of issue to travelers, especially if not familiar with the area from beforehand, about the area is the proximity to Telegraph Avenue, and which to me with a decade gap in between had become a much more run down area than before in time and that there were a number of homeless or aimless people wandering around the neighborhood. I really liked this house and the whole experience and feel appreciative of this kind of set up as an alternative for short term housing when one wants more than a room and bathroom for 3 weeks, wants to cook one's own food in between, not be in a sterile hotel venue, and enjoys taking care of plants and interacting with a great cat.
