I live in a Melbourne suburb of Victoria, Australia and work full-time in a Residential Drug & Alcohol Program, where I am a Team Leader. I have raised four children - the youngest has just completed his final year of secondary college - and have 2 grandbabies.
I am learning chess, guitar and bongo drums, and love art-making, reading, dancing, talking to people and learning about how they eat, love, make music and build their communities. I am a non-smoker. I have the travel bug and have seen a lot of Australia, trekked in Nepal and visited Thailand, India and the USA, where I road-tripped from San Francisco to New Orleans via Utah. I spend my tax return on travel - sooner or later I'll have to paint my house and fix the taps.....later. I can't live without books, something to draw with, music, and my family (family includes friends and my dog - a staffy named Birdie). I also like movies and live theatre. I love cooking and eating and robust conversation over a large pot of tea or bottle of wine. I sing and/or dance easily. When I travel I tend to be a backpacker because I can only ever really afford my plane ticket but I can't let that stop me. As a person I am inquisitive, respectful, forthright and love to laugh. I like to push through fear. Future plans in my journeying include France, Italy, Ireland, Spain, South Africa (family) Borneo, China, Vietnam, Cambodia and I will always return to Nepal and the USA.
I may form a tradition of always ending a trip to the US in New Orleans - it was the first place I ever wanted to travel to, when I was about 10 and used to lie on the floor in a patch of sun with my grandparents World Encyclopedias spread out while they had their after-lunch rest....somehow I got the idea that music began in New Orleans and I wanted to see that place! I finally made it in 2011. My next trek/thru-hike will likely be The Pacific Crest Trail. My mottos are Be Kind and Live Life On Purpose.
