Great Location !!! Very close to all the touristy locations - clean and functional for our needs. Brandon was there to meet us and show us the place before handing over the keys. Comfortable spot in a great area - close to some amazing restaurants - We had a FANTASTIC time and wouldn't hesitate to return!! Thank-you !!
We have a mixed review of Brandon's unit. I'll try and list both the positives and negatives but the bottom line is we moved to a hotel for the final 4 days.
-excellent location convenient to the Theater District, Metro and lots of restaurants.
-The building felt very safe.
-The washer and dryer are a great convenience.
-Brandon was very nice and always quick to respond to texts or emails. As he was going to be out of town when we arrived, he sent us the keys a couple of days in advance which made for a stress free check-in.
-The unit was supposed to have an air conditioner - a window unit is clearly visible in the pictures and listed as an amenity. It was missing. I texted Brandon and he responded that he removed the unit because it was very noisy and, since it had turned so cold (low 30s), he didn't think it would be needed. I explained that I had allergy issues so sleeping with an open window was a problem but agreed that everything was comfortable for the moment. Unfortunately, over the next week it got steadily warmer, eventually reaching the mid-60s. The heat was controlled by the building and it became unbearably warm. I asked Brandon if there was any way to control the temperature and he said that he often opens the window and uses a fan to create some airflow. I slept with the window open and, as I feared, had an allergy attack resulting in a miserable, sleepless night. I told Brandon about it and he offered to get the a/c reinstalled but I told him it wouldn't do any good. My allergies had already been triggered. We decided to move someplace more comfortable for the remaining 4 days.
-The noise. There was construction going on at a building a few doors down so there were a lot of trucks going down the street. It was particularly noisy once we had to open the window to cool off. We also had an issue with music from the neighbor's unit - Brandon said that he would have a talk with him but we left before we could tell if it did any good.
-There is no storage. There is a wardrobe in the unit but it's off limits. Guests are supposed to use the coat closet but during our stay it was almost completely full of coats. We had to live out of our suitcases. Not a problem for a short stay but inconvenient if staying a week or more.
My advice: you only have 24 hours to report a problem to airbnb so if something isn't as advertised, report it. Even if it seems inconsequential. I understand why Brandon removed the unit and we were all surprised by the unseasonable warm temperatures. That being said, had it been left in place it would have prevented a lot of problems and added expense.
We had a good time in Brandons Apartment. Great apartment like on the pictures, 2 blocks away from the train, good location, a lot of restaurants and bars around.
Perfect for our trip in NYC.
We had a lovely weekend at the Brandon's Studio. It was a bit tiring on arrival and departure as it is on the third floor, no elevator in the building and We were with 4 luggages of medium to large. The Studio was a bit dusty but was acceptable. Brandon was very welcoming on our arrival and met the time of check in We had agreed and the check out was also as We agreed.
Really nice place in a very convenient area. Brandon was very nice and very flexible. Third story walk up got old after walking miles in the city each day, but it really is a great place to stay.
Brandon's studio is in a good location - Hells Kitchen, near Times Square. Walking distance to public transport and some great sights. Check-in/out went well and Brandon was fairly quick to respond to our questions. The internet was down the entire stay (we used the Starbuck's down the street for wifi), so that did pose a bit of an inconvenience. The apartment was not as clean as we would have liked.
Brandon was great to deal with - very quick and clear with communication. The place is in a great location - pretty close to the subway with lots of restaurants / grocery stores etc within a couple of minutes walk.
Place was clean without being spotless - the only two issues was the top floor location. My parents struggled a little with the stairs but most people would have no troubles. The air conditioner is very loud as the compressor kicks on and off so we left it off mostly and the apartment does get warm quickly.
Beds were great - fold out is comfy as well and the wifi certainly came in handy for checking out restaurants etc.
Would definitely recommend!!!
me and my wife have been most lucky to have stayed at brandon when in NY . Most important he is a very nice person and the flat was very comfortable, clean and spacious. Thank you for your hospitality.
This spot was perfect for our NY trip! It was helpful that it was walking distance from Terminal 5, Times Square, & the subway.
Brandon was an attentive host & I would definitely stay here again.
