Communication with our host was very easy, and we picked up our keys without any problem. There was a short walk of a couple of blocks from the key pick-up to the studio apartment. The best thing about the apartment is its location: 1 block from Central Park West, 2 blocks from the subway, 1/2 block to Columbus Avenue and many restaurants.
The apartment is clean, but a bit frayed around the edges. The bed sags in the middle but the two of slept well anyway. I would suggest that the owner or manager check in regularly between tenants to see that everything is working fine and nothing is missing. There was a coffee maker but no pot or carafe, and the hot water tap in the bathroom rattled and made a huge noise when it was turned on. Wifi is very good, and the shower works well. Lots of big mirrors with high ceilings, and good lighting overall. The air conditioner was very appreciated, and worked well. The apartment is quiet and there is no street noise or noise from other apartments.
It would be a challenge to really cook in the kitchen, and it's more suited to breakfasts and warming things up in the microwave. Sally, our contact, is very pleasant, and gave us a place to store our luggage after the 11:00 checkout - our flight left at 3:30. Would we stay there again? Possibly.
The place is wonderful. It's easy to get to the subway and there are supermarkets, restaurants, post office and laundry which are perfect for the tourists.
If we visit NY again, we will stay the same house.
The location is great - a great neighborhood and close to the subway, Central Park, Museum of Natural History and other attractions. The unit up on the 4th floor so there's climbing to reach it. The apartment is quaint and well-decorated. The kitchen is not supplied with basics like other places I've rented so it's not conducive to cooking meals there. The biggest problem with this apartment is that in the summer it is HOT! No fans are provided and while A/C is advertised, it doesn't work. The sheets had holes in them and the back bedroom mattress cover is plastic, compounding the sweat factor misery at night. If you are going to rent during cooler months, this place is a gem!
Loved the apartment! It was clean, well decorated, there is plenty space for 5 people and it looks just at it is described. Sally was a great host, solving an issue with the internet within 24 hrs. The building does not have elevator, so walking up stairs is required. Totally worth it!
Paola is welcomed at our home any time.
Hot. A/C not working. No fans in the unit (ceiling or otherwise). Wouldn't recommend this spot int the summer months. Top floor, plus skylight and little to no airflow. Requested fans a few times but didn't happen for us.
Pick-up at a different location than initially given. Not a huge problem. The host will not be meeting you at the unit. Expect to pick-up the key a few blocks away.
Spacious, a little rough around the edges but normal for the age of the building.
There is a window A/C in the bedroom in one of the pictures. It wasn't installed for us.
Location is great. Near subways and Central Park. It's nice that it sleeps 6. Some units are AirBNB are actually someone's apartment. This seems to be a permanent short-term sublet.
Hot water is hit or miss. It is also top floor walk up. It can be a bit of a challenge after a long day.
Sally was pleasant and attentive to my needs to have the front lock fixed sending someone to look at the problem. The apartment was very clean and luminous. The location was excellent. I would have liked to have the kitchen stocked better to be able to make simple meals since that was the reason why I rented an apartment rather than going to a hotel. I asked for a frying pan and Sally brought it to me the next day.
Sally's apartment is a wonderful place to stay in NYC. It is very comfortable and cozy and we really liked staying their. Location within NYC is also ideal. Two minutes to Central Park, 5 minutes to the American Museum of Natural History, 4 minutes to Subway B,C and 5 minutes to Subway 1. So you can go very quickly to up and downtown. At the same time the direct surrounding is rather quite, with however nice bars and restaurants around the corner. If I would be asked to name a shortcoming I would say that the sofa bed is rather uncomfortable and you should rather stay with a max. of 4 people (we were 6). But other than that it was perfect!
All went well as plan.
The Dennecker Family are welcomed at our home.
We thank them for choosing to stay with us.
The key was easy to pick up and walking distance to the apartment. The location was great for us, so close to Central Park, the two railway lines and the Museum of Nat. Hist. The apartment was equipped with what we needed. It would be crowded for 4 as once the couch is folded out there isn't much room but was fine for 2 littlies and an adult. I'd stay here again. There was no traffic noise and we woke up to hearing birds chirping. Was lovely. The notes left on local eateries and food was helpful, thank you.
Great location. A few buildings east of the corner of 83rd St and Columbus Ave., you are steps from Central Park and the Natural History Museum. There is close proximity to several transit options and restaurants in the area are plentiful. The building is relatively quiet and felt quite safe. Accommodations are simple, with the interior showing definite signs of its age. Kitchen is fully stocked with everything necessary to dine in. Hot water in the shower is scarce and makes it hard for two people to use successively without careful planning. The large south facing windows drench the apartment with natural light, but lack screens and therefore make it challenging to open for ventilation without attracting unwanted visitors. We stayed during a heat wave and the window AC unit had not yet been installed. The check-in/out process was very easy and a short walk from the apartment. There was no iron & board in the apartment and none was delivered despite several requests.
The apartment is within walking distance to Central Park and the subway. There are many fine restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries and markets nearby too. Sally was responsive and made us feel welcomed in NY. We enjoyed our visit very much!
