What can I say? This does not have a lot to do with airbb mood. Is just a rent-room house with a very low quality.
I am a intensive traveler (India, Burma, Laos..) so I do not consider my self too much pretentious.
We arrived in late evening.
1- The room we found was without any sheets! Just mattress and mattress cover!
2- we had very used and very small towels
3- light of entrance did not work. Neither light on top of the bed
4- the flush toilet was broken in the seat part
5- the waste paper basket was full of the staff left from the people before
6- the shower did not have any place where hang on it
7- no soap.. Ops.. Yes a kind of soap..
8- one full day we stayed without water.. And no one thought to communicate it to us
9- except Afsin the first night we did not see anyone in 1 week!! No changes of little-used towel where scheduled and neither sheet... Of course!
10- afsin is not the owner.. Just one guy that welcome the people..
11- the mattress was uncomfortable.
The first night we have slept on the mattress cover .. Luckily we had pillow covers with us!
The morning after when we asked for sheets to a guy that was passed on the stairs (no one speak English) brought us some wet sheets..so we decided to pass over and go buy a full set of sheets and pillows in a street close to the place...
The very good thing of this place is the location.. Very close to Taksim, nightlife and to the artist quarter!
In our trips we slept in other places worst then this but not paying 75€ a day!!
At this price this is crazy!
We did not want a 5star hotel but neither a so uncomfortable place!
The Studio was exactly what I expected it to be for this really good price. It was very clean and cute. Only the wireless lan did not work well all the time, but this was not important for me.
In my opinion the location is one of the best in Istanbul - just across the German Hospital in Cihangir, 2 minutes walking distance to Istiklal Caddesi, but still pretty quite for this city.
Afsin is a very nice host, friendly and helpful.
As I am in Istanbul very often and tried many Hostels and Appartments, i would like to stay here again.
Great location. Quiet area while you are minutes away from Taksim sq.
I didn't get to meet Afsin, but his friend helped me to check in and he was kind enough to carry my luggage all the way up to my room.
The room is big and full of light plus you get a small fully equipped kitchenette. Afsin also provided me with clean towels, shampoo, and soap.
The only thing I was concerned during my stay was that I am non-smoker and the room is advertised as non-smoking room but I think the room recently became a non-smoking room ans I could still smell cigarette a little even though it looks like the room is recently renovated and painted.
Overall I think if you are planing to have a meal or two at home and looking for a big room/small studio in an area close to shops, Taksim, Isteklal street, .... this is your room.
Thank you Afsin!
