Living in Austin, TX. Originally from Montreal, Quebec. Attorney (Arif) and Programmer (Maryam) by day. Interests include the outdoors, performing arts, music, and design.
We had a wonderful time staying at Arif and Maryam's place. The room and bathroom were lovely, the bed very comfortable, and the neighborhood very quiet, yet we were just walking distance to Stacey Park (and wonderful Stacey Pool) as well as South Congress Avenue, with its restaurants and unusual shops. Arif and Maryam were great hosts, and we'll be back!
Arif and Maryam were lovely. But the real starts of the house are Roman and Kaiser, always a friendly bark to say welcome home and then, after a little love, happy to go on their way. Arif and Maryam have a lovely home! and the location could not be better! I am grateful for the experience. I think it perfect for one person. Clean and comfortable.
The location, hosts and housing were all great.
Maryam and Arif are great hosts who were really accomodating to my trip. They’re good people to talk with and make you feel at home; heck, I even got a load of laundry in during my stay. Arif also can help out with any recommendations for food. I consider myself a “foodie” in the SF/BayArea and his tastes matched with what I was in pursuit for.
The room is very neat/tidy (as is their whole house) and you have your own private space (queen bed, own bathroom/shower, TV, internet, etc.) Really couldn’t ask for more for someone who just needs a place to stay while exploring Austin. The house is also neatly laid out to relax in. The living room has a nice sound system with old-school records playing, there’s a back patio area that’s screened off from bugs, and they’ve got two dogs - dogs are always awesome! They get excited and bark when you come home because they miss you, but once you’re inside, they’re all calm.
The location cannot be beat if you’re looking to explore the South Congress area, which is really popular now, and has so many options for eating, coffee, hipster window shopping - all within a 10-15 min walking distance. If you have a car and need to get to the freeway, it’s really close as well. There’s also a nice park a block away (Stacy Park) which has a famous pool called Big Stacy Pool that’s popular in the warm times. For those who want to do a little longer of a run, it’s within distance of running to the Colorado River and running along the Butler Trail along the water with the masses. Despite being adjacent to all this awesome-ness, it’s very quiet there at night, so you can also get a great night’s sleep to recharge for your next adventure.
Definitely recommend staying there and getting your SoCo on: South Congress Cafe, Jo’s Coffee, Continental Club, Homeslice Pizza, Magnolia Cafe….I could keep going, but you get the point.
Arif and Maryam were very friendly, kind, and accomodating. They were able to give great suggestions of places to go around Austin. The room was nice, clean, and comfortable. The house is very homey and charming and it was really fantastic having a private bathroom attached to the room. Beatiful house and surrounding area. Their two dogs, Roman and Kaiser, are super sweet and friendly! It was an easy walk down to get food and look at shops. Overall, we had a great time!
I found the room comfortable, clean and well-maintained. It has a private bath that is also clean and well-maintained. The room and the house were charmingly decorated. Arif and Maryam made me feel welcome and also gave me my privacy.
I especially loved their dogs. They were adorable and very friendly. However, the dogs do bark at noises sometimes during the day. I NEVER heard the dogs bark at night.
The location can not be beat. It is two blocks from South Congress Street where all the great shops and restaurants are. I just loved getting out and walking around the neighborhood.
I recommend this rental.
Maryam and Arif were lovely hosts - super friendly and really helpful when we needed tips on the city. Comfy room too and two adorable dogs!
Enjoyed our stay at Arif's place it was clean, well kept, cozy and centrally located. We were able to walk to congress a few blocks away where a lot of delicious restaurants were and fun shops to browse are.
Arif was very accommodating and offered lots of advice on places to eat and great music shows to check out.
The room was cozy and the private bathroom was wonderful with lots of hot water. We even enjoyed the free toiletries provided. Plus we loved the two dogs who were warm and cuddly.
Arif was a very gracious host. I was offered to use anything I needed in the kitchen, make myself coffee, listen to his records, adjust the ac, etc. The bedroom was clean and neat when I arrived and there were little touches like travel size toiletries, extras towels and even a blowdryer waiting for me in the bathroom--awesome. With that said, I had my own bedroom (really comfortable bed) with a tv, internet access, dresser, closet, beautiful sunlight through windows that surrounded the room and my very own bathroom that was through my bedroom. I came and went as I pleased and was always happily welcomed by his two sweet little dogs. Also, the house is right by a big park which is great for taking walks or working out and about a 5 minute walk to South Congress St. where it's easy to catch a bus downtown or just hang out and shop/eat on that main drag.
I would have no qualms about staying here again and highly recommend it to others.
