Loved the experience! Thank you Sue for making us feel so welcome on your tropical oasis! Never stayed anywhere like this before, would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique island adventure. We loved the communal kitchen and meeting everyone at the property. Thanks again!
An amazing oasis - the property was immaculate and the remote location was serene. Our ocean front yurt was better than expected! I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about the communal bathroom - but it was very private and despite the property size and other guests, we felt like the only ones there. We felt very welcomed and check in/out was so easy. The bananas from the property were the best we ever had! Bring bugspray - you are in the rainforest! Also, the driveway down isn't as scary as it looks!
What a place! This is an ideal spot to spend a night or two if you are driving down the Hana Highway on Maui's east coast, or else just looking for somewhere remote, peaceful and quiet.
I arrived around mid-afternoon and met Sue and Hamid, the hosts, soon after. They were hugely welcoming. After they showed me around the grounds, we had a nice chat and they gave me some great tips for the later parts of my trip.
The grounds are stunning, set atop a cliff overlooking the ocean. The room itself was very cosy, clean, comfortable (best night's sleep in months). Great balcony overlooking the trees and ocean. The shared bathroom was very clean, as was the communal kitchen.
Overall, I couldn't fault this place. Highly recommended.
Ein wundererbarer Platz um zu Entspannen - eine tropische Oase!
Back to the basics!
Halemano is a perfect place to get away from the tourist hustle and bustle and get back to nature. Waking up here is very special. We loved our private balcony and the useful touches like bug spray in the room, a head torch, and eco friendly body wash in the outdoor bathroom. The facilities are modern and well kept. The shared kitchen was a lovely space and had all the utensils you might need to prep a meal from your local grocery purchases. The yoga studio with mats had the most beautiful view.
What an unforgettable experience! Sue & Hamid are lovely and kind people. The property and views of the ocean from the cliff are breathtaking. Falling asleep to the sound of crashing waves is indescribable. Only downside is if you're desirable to mosquitos (as I am) then you will get bit so bring repellent. And the nearest cell service and wireless is half an hour north in Hana town. Staying at the property was the highlight of our trip!
Staying at Halemano was a great experience, we stayed for 2 nights on our honeymoon. The place was really good, we booked a room that is made by coconut wood. The view is breathtaking from there
Halemano was a truly special place, and Hamid and Sue were incredible welcoming hosts. All the prior reviews are 100% accurate. Thanks so much!!
Definitely the most adventurous and interesting overnight accomodations we've ever had. We arrived past dark, and were expecting to have to find our way around alone in the dark, but were luckily greeted by one of the hosts, who showed us around the property with an extra headlight. Once acclimated, we were able to find our way around easily enough. The arcitecture was really amazing and wonderful. This is right in the heart of a lush rainforest. If fairies exist, this is definitely where they live. The foliage was so dense that when it rained (and it did, often), we barely felt it due to the protection of trees overhead. The rainstorms at night felt quite wild and surreal to us desert folk. We did have a couple of mosquitos sneak into our cabin at night. They provide a bug zapper and bug spray, which we utilized to some effect, but would have preferred a protective net. Also, the air was heavier here then what we are used to, and we noticed that it was a bit awkward to breathe overnight (extra coughing and thickness in the lungs). Overall, a fascinating and potentially magical place, but know what you are getting into.
Halemano is an outstanding location. Hamid and Sue were very welcoming. The seclusion and peacefulness of the property were the perfect relaxing getaway. I'm very grateful to have had the opportunity to stay there.
It was great to meet Halemano and Judy. Being that they are hosts in Hawaii as well, and creative people made me wish I could've gotten to know them more. I was busy packing for a trip for part of their stay, then I was off. I hope they return soon.
