I have a PhD in planetary science from Berkeley and now work as a research scientist at the University of Colorado, where I study the upper atmospheres of Venus and Mars. I'm part of the team for the next Mars mission called MAVEN.
I am originally from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. My mom's family moved to this area from Finland in the early 1900s, and settled in a very rural area populated by almost all Finns. My friends have told me that 'it's like another country'.
I like to snowboard, run, do triathlons, and my new love is learning parkour. I also like to geek out on any sort of science (not just planets) - in particular, nutrition and health related research.
