I left Alaska over 20 years ago to fulfill my childhood dream of living in Europe. I've been here ever since, most of the time in Berlin, but with intervals in Scotland, Prague and Copenhagen. Now my Swedish husband and I have turned our backs on city life and moved to a village with 12 houses surrounded by fields. Locals ask us why we moved to this backwater, but it's only 30 minutes to Bonn and a little more to Cologne. The only things missing are the sun and food of the south.
