Very comfortable stay. Just as described. Excellent communication before arrival. Everything was clean and ready. This place has exceptional access to the park and easy ride from Hilo. Very roomy yet cozy house with everything you need to cook in, if needed.
What wonderful hosts! We had a fantastic stay at this pristinely clean home right near Volcano National Park, a general store, a new Thai food restaurant, the post office and a laundromat. All the conveniences of home. The house has a beautifully tiled shower, TV with a library of DVDs and books. A children's bedroom has bunk beds and children's toys and books while two other large beds can sleep you comfortably. We cooked lots of great meals in their well equipped kitchen and all the dishes and pots and pans were clean clean clean. Not always the case in other homes but never a problem here. You should have no worries staying here. It's wonderful!! Thank you to our hosts. Aloha!
This is a wonderful place to stay. The space is large and open with plenty of room for two people to make themselves at home. The location is ideal - very close to Volcano National Park, the farmer's market, and restaurants. The setting is the typical tropical lush beauty of the area. The Maid's Quarters has a lot of charm with many fun touches. We enjoyed having a supply of CDs and a sound system (both provided). The host - Todd has done a nice job of maintaining a private home setting and was always pleasant. We would definitely stay here again!
Wonderful stay, beautiful house and tropical back yard! Very clean and inviting. Todd was a very nice host and was there to answer any questions we had about the area. his house is right next door which is nice if you need something and yet the property is situated in a way that it still feels secluded enough.
Todd also made an effort to supply us with a baby crib and a high chair which was a plus.
Oma's Hapu'u Hideway is an absolute gem! I spent 3 nights here and I wish we had had more time. The house itself is gorgeous, and the location is amazing, extremely convenient to explore the southern part of the island. It is literally 2 minutes away from the entrance of Volcanoes National Park yet you feel like you are secluded in the forest.
Todd lives next door, he stopped by a couple times to make sure everything was fine and he was very friendly and knowledgeable about the island (he gives great tips!).
I honestly can't think of any drawbacks. If you are lucky to find this property, don't even think twice and book it. Next time I go back to the Big Island, I will certainly try to stay here again.
My family had an amazing time in Volcano. the proximity to the park was very convenient. Todd was a great host.
Very beautiful house in jungles just near Volcano National Park. The host is great.
Oma's Hapu'u Hideaway is one of my favorite lodging locations anywhere. Todd was the perfect host: as accessible as you might ever want, yet distant enough to give us the feeling of staying in a tropical "hideaway" on our own among the ferns and singing birds.
Oma's was immaculately clean, extremely well-designed, laid out, and stocked, and was very comfortable and convenient. I can't remember the last time I slept so soundly. As an unexpected bonus, Oma's was also very stable in the 4.5 earthquake that woke us one night - such is life on the edge of an active volcano!
I recommend Todd and Oma's with the greatest enthusiasm and without any reservations.
A magnificant part of our holiday was to stay in Volcano and at Haunani House. I can highly recommend this house and Airbnb member Todd Marohnic. It was like a home away from home. Hopefully one day we shall return to Hawaii and if so we will certainly stay again at Haunani House. The surrounding gardens were also great. Thanks Todd.
