Sybille is very welcoming and helpful. The basement studio is exactly as described in words and pictures. There is also a couch at the end of the bed now and a small TV in the corner. The location is perfect as you can travel directly to and from Heathrow on the Piccadilly underground train line. And it is possible to walk to many museums and Convent Garden from this address. The kitchen is very practical for people who want to eat in and not go out. And it was so good to be able to do our laundry. We felt very comfortable and safe here, like a home away from
Sybille was a great host who made sure that I was comfortable and accommodated during my stay. She was very flexible with my arrival and departure times, which helped greatly since it was a working trip to London for me. The flat has the basic amenities well covered, and is conveniently located in a safe neighborhood close to good restaurants, sights and transport links. I was also invited to join the family for a cup of tea, which was very kind of them. The only downside is that it gets quite noisy as the sound travels very easily from the upstairs home into the basement. Other than that, it was a lovely stay and I would recommend this location if you're not too sensitive to noise.
Sybille is a lovely host who provides very thorough, yet simple information to help with logistics. Her home is in a superb location--incredibly close to lots of sightseeing, but tucked into a quiet neighborhood. We loved being 2 quick Tube stops from both West End theaters, but also St. Paul's cathedral. We walked a ton to just explore the city and it is truly amazing how easy it was to find something interesting within a short distance from Sybilles flat. We always felt very safe, even walking at night. The flat is simple, but tasteful--and everything worked perfectly. Despite being garden level, the space was never cold or damp--we were extremely comfortable. The room darkening window coverings were effective and both a blessing and a curse as we slept almost too well with jet lag! You shouldn't expect luxury--you'll need to pay a lot more for that. Consistent with other reviewers, if you are looking for a cozy, nice, comfortable, clean, convenient and affordable spot, this is an easy call. Thank you Sybille-- we had a fabulous week!
The description of the apartment was accurate and the unit was very clean and generally well-supplied with everything that a tourist would need. It is situated in an interesting part of London, and had good access to the underground, and within walking distance of grocery stores, restaurants and some tourist attractions. The hostess was very welcoming. We would recommend it highly and would be happy to rent the unit in any future trips to London.
Studio très bien situé, très agréable. Sybille est très accueillante, nous avons adoré notre séjour dans son studio.
My wife and I loved the apartment which was beautiful, spacious and neat. It was in a nice quiet residential location with good amenities nearby. There was an attached bathroom with a bath tub and a kitchen which was so convenient. Except for the occasional patter of children's feet from above, the apartment was generally nice and quiet. We will definitely return to stay here when we are in London again.
Sybille was very communicative before our stay. While she was out of town during our time in London she arranged with her housekeeper Mexieda to take care of us and left us with some phone numbers to get in touch with her. Also we really appreciated a print out of bars and restaurants that was left in the flat. We loved the apartment and the neighborhood was great. Only a 20 minute walk or so to a slew of restaurants in Covent Garden area and a little further is Picadilly Circus. We walked all over London and found Bloomsbury to be a nice jumping off point for our exploring. Mexieda did an excellent job taking care of us and was so sweet. We had trouble one night with the alarm going off and she immediately came over to fix it. We had a wonderful stay!
Sybille is a very warm, charming and welcoming host. She was easy to communicate with and very flexible as well as generous. Since we arrived right before Christmas she left us small gifts and a bottle of wine and even invited us to their family Christmas party. Unfortunately we were too jet lagged to accept her invitation.
The studio is exactly as shown. Everything was immaculate, well maintained and in good working order, with nice furnishings and bright art prints.
I loved the neighborhood, which is residential with many shops and restaurants close by and buses and tube very short walk away.
Sybille warned us it would be very noisy, especially over Christmas but we were never bothered by sounds from the family and the street is a quiet one. You can walk to the British Museum and all the squares of Bloomsbury. I look forward to coming back and would happily recommend this studio to friends and family without reservation.
It is an extremely nice, well furnished basement studio apartment unit that is clean, private, and is in an excellent neighborhood in a safe and central location. Sybille is an very pleasant and a responsive host. My overall experience was extremely good; the only (minor) downside is that it is relatively easy to hear footsteps from the floor above.
We absolutely enjoyed our weeklong stay at Sybille's studio apartment in Bloomsbury. She was a warm and considerate hostess, and though we only saw her a few times, we felt that every amenity and comfort for guests had been considered and carefully provided. The apartment was very convenient for all our needs during our stay in London. It was spacious and quiet--perfect for those who prefer a more neighborhood living experience while they travel. We recommend Sybille's beautiful Bloomsbury studio wholeheartedly and without any reservation or qualification. We would hope to stay there again on a return trip to London.
