Ottorino and his wife, Anna, don't speak English but they speak two of the most important languages in the world: consideration and laughter. Their apartment is welcoming, spacious, comfortable, safe and 2 minutes walk from a few stores. Villa Anna is a 30-minute bus ride from Venice and easy to get to once you know the suburban bus system in Venice and the 53 bus route and its timetable.
I enjoyed spending a week there and speaking Italian with them.
They were very kind to me and, as well as providing everything I needed for breakfast, gave me a pumpkin to make soup with and some pomegranates.
I took some photos of Villa Anna and its beautiful garden with its pomegranate trees, the sunrise over the river nearby and also the bus journey from the main bus station Piazzale Roma in Venice to Oriago, Mira where Villa Anna is.
Hopefully, more people will choose to stay at Villa Anna and practice Italian, English, Spanish, French, German, Chinese etc and the languages of consideration and laughter with Ottorino and Anna.

Magnificent apartments! Very cozy, look better, than on the photos. The big drawing room with kitchen, a bedroom, is all necessary, good wi-fi. Amazing garden round the house. Owners very friendly and benevolent people.
Good location - 20 minutes by bus from Venice (2,5 euro to one way).
So, very much I recommend to stop at visit of Venice exactly here!
We had a great time at Villa Anna. The apartment is pleasant and the garden is lovely. The bus is convenient and not too busy.
We enjoyed our visit in Venezia very much. The apartment in Villa Anna was spacious, modern, clean and equipped with the necessary appliances. Mattia was hospitable and helpful. We met his grandmother and she was very nice. They provided us generously with products for breakfasts during our stay. We highly recommend Villa Anna.
this place (villa anna) was my wife and i favorite place in all the places we stayed at in italy. 5 star highly recommended. very spacious, amazing garden, quite, true country lifestyle. they gave us a stocked fridge. friendly people. some advice for others it is approx 20 euros by taxy from mestre train station. after that you buy bus ticket for 2.50 euros each way to get into venice in like 25 mins. bus stop is just across the street. to come back take padova/dolo bus. last bus is at 12am
Mattia's place was opposite the bus stop with regular busses to Central Venice. The place itself is quite big, spacious and in a safe neighbourhood. His parents live downstairs and were there to welcome us. However they limited English which kept conversation very short for us. they appeared very friendly otherwise and gave us mint from their garden for our pizza. If you speak italian you would have no problems at all.
We did not meet Mattia on our 3 day stay but he was readily available on the phone when we had questions. However with international roaming we kept our calls to minimum.
Overall a great place to stay as long as you are not expecting the host to be there in person for those everyday questions.
let me start off by saying that we our arrival at villa anna was spectacular! mattia's parents welcomed us in the driveway, chatting away in italian, greeting us like long lost family. the apartment is in their house, which is surrounded by a luscious garden filled with fig, pomegranate and olive trees. the apartment itself was much bigger than expected, with a spacious living room and kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. a balcony surrounds the entire place.
finding a place near venice is difficult. there is a tradeoff between distance from venice, safety, quality and price. so we opted for safety, quality and price. here villa anna scores incredibly well. (except fthat someone was playing loud music that you heard late at night, on both nights of our stay. bring earplugs!)
we left the car at the house in mira (in the property's gated driveway) and travelled to venice by bus (comes fairly regulary) - 2.50€ per trip, took 25mins. on the way back the bus was incredibly crowded (everyone returning home in the evening), we ended up standing for the entire journey, which lasted almost an hour. this is common in the area.
mira is safe, small, quiet - there isnt much to do or see. there is one decent pizzeria on via venezia, and all stores that you might need, including fresh fruit/veggies and a tabaccheria (for bus tickets) down the road. i suggest eating dinner in venice and returning to mira later - not too late, or you might miss the last bus. even though it says is runs until 1am, we were told that this isnt usually the case.
mattia wasnt around, but answered all questions via email! his parents were charming.
Our stay at villa Anna was wonderful! Anna greeted us and gave us a warm welcome, and even though she didn't speak any English she made us feel very at home. The place itself was perfect for us (and a lot bigger than other places we've stayed using airbnb). Great kitchen, big bedroom and bathroom and a wonderful balcony. the garden is amazing full of beautiful flowers and veggies etc... Anna always made sure we had breakfast foods, coffee, water and fresh towels. It was just a short bus ride into Venice, not a big hassle at all. A wonderful place to stay if you are planning a trip to Venice! We definitely recommend it!
