We decided to stop in Tavira right after crossing the boarder with Spain on our way to Lisbon. Tavira was a breath of fresh air! Stunning little town! Our apartment was right in the city centre. Very modern, cosy and functional. Well equipped.
We stayed there in January so it was a little bit cold as tere is no heating, but we just layered up and kept warm by walking around town. The apartment might get noisy in the summer so bring earplugs if you are sensitive sleeper :)
The apartment was perfect for us. We parked the car few streets away and walked everywhere.
We recommend this place to anyone who likes being in the city centre and who likes waking and discovering!
You must try the amazing Indian restaurant 100m away by the riverside! We did take-away one night and were tots blewn away!
Tavira was so relaxing and fun with great food and lots of walking.
Thank you Margarida and Ana for having us x
We had a nice stay in Tavira at Ana & Margaridas apartment, which is located right in the town centre so very easy to walk around the town. The apartment is very newly renovated and very clean.
We didnt actually meet the hosts but felt that they obviously trusted us in their apartment. Unfortunately there is no wifi connection dedicated to the apartment, but you can get it in certain spots of the main square for free.
We really had a great stay in Tavira and enjoyed the spacious beautiful house in the center of a lovely city. The supermarket is next door, the boat to the island of Tavira (=beach) a few steps/ minutes away. The atmosphere was fine and we felt the good vibrations of the passed generations! Ana and Margarida were very helpful and present, although they were not in town. The rooms are very pretty and the kitchen useful equiped. Everthing was tidy and clean. Our children got used to doing the dishes and even to the old-fashioned bathtub where you have to mix hot and cold water ... by hand! Thanks a lot and good luck!
¡Inmejorable situación y comodidad!
Unbeatable location and confor!
Excelente localização e conforto!
This is a very clean and new appartement in the center of Tavira, actually you really stay just 10 meters away from the main place :-) Our host was very nice and explained us everything on the telephone, it is sad we could not meet but she was on vacation herself at that moment and a friend opened the door.
We had problems to find the appartement because the address is not on airbnb and the point on the map is missleading, so I post the addresse (for other visitors) here if thats ok: Rua da Galeria 8.
Tavira is beautiful, a city of smooth and relaxing music - nearly every night there is a concert on the main square (jazz), and there is live music at the irish pub on the other side of the river.
Oh, we used the appartement to cook a lot (there is a real town market for fish, meat and vegetables in the south of the town) but it was a little bit tricky because the power system only allows 2 plates or only the oven, not oven+1plate. So you need a strategy what to cookk first ;-)
The apartment is very clean, well furnished, freshly renovated and situated right in the centre of the old town. Ana and Margarida were helpful hosts. Thanks
It was a pleasure to stay at this new refurbished, very clean and tidy place. Located in the heart of beautiful Tavira, close to everywhere you wanna go...And Margarida & Ana are just awesome friendly hosts, helping in any issues! Thanks a lot
A beautiful place!
We arrived in Tavira and eplored the town and had a glas of wine in the sun overlooking the water while we awaited the time we'd organised to meet the person who would let us into the apparent (Margarida was very easy and flexible to arrange this with).
Strangely enough it turned out that the apartment was exactly across the road from where we had originally parked - a very central location. We were taken upstairs into the beautiful apartment, which surpassed our expectations. Elegant and interesting, this apparent dates back to the early 1900's and is now being sensitively restored by the family. We explored with interest, including going up onto the lovely roof terrace from where we had a beautiful view of Tavira in the evening sun.
There is a short printed history of the apartment kept in the flat that we read with interest and left us keen to know more
We stayed 2 nights and had a really nice time. The flat was comfortable as well as architecturally satisfying - the parts of the apartment that are open to be used have already been restored to a very nice level, the rest is closed off. The only slight problems we had were a blown fuse caused by using too many burners on the stove at onece (and very easily fixed by flipping a switch!) and a dissappointingly cool bath, as there really isn't enough hot water to fill the (enticingly large) bath. So unless the purpose of your visit is to cook up a complicated masterpiece or wallow around in the bath all evening, I would recommend this place 100%.
Thanks for a great stay!
I would love to see the apartment in its fully restored state one day, especially the beautiful skylight! And to hear the full story of Zaza!
Zaza house is in a prime location in Tavira, one of the most beautiful and historic cities in the South of Europe. The house has very interesting architectural features and is wonderfully decorated in early last century's fashion. A fantastic opportunity to be spot-on in the centre of this lovely city, and close to everything. My cousins Margarida and Ana are managing this house and will surely guide you on a very comfortable, cultural and most interesting experience!
It´s rare to find this type of apartment in the Algarve. It is typical of some high society houses of the region in the beginning of the century. You can still find the original hand painted walls and the marvelous ceilings. To stay there, it's an experience in itself!
