From Baltimore, 34 years old.
Had a great time in Vieques again, and Mason's place was the perfect spot for us! He was able to meet us by the ferry and it was a short walk up to his place. From there its a 5 min walk to the panaderia, the small grocery, and Coqui Fire, a great newer restaurant Mason told us about. Try Taverna too for dinner..
The apt has everything you need to eat in or go out; we did both in equal measure. And making coffee in the percolator was great too. The place was neat, clean, and had a great nighttime breeze. Great little patio with views of the fort and the ocean too.
Mason was a great host -- easy to deal with and if you need/want anything he'll try to oblige you.
Just fyi: We rented a scooter to get around, which we enjoyed more than the jeep we rented last time. Just watch out for horses!
Mason's apartment was fantastic! It was spotless, just the right size, and had everything we needed. In addition, it was in a great part of town, the neighbors were friendly and kind, and we were able to walk to restaurants, grocery stores, a small beach and to and from the ferry. Mason was around and able to answer any questions we had. He emailed me back within minutes while we were waiting for the ferry, recommended restaurants, beaches and transportation and made himself available if we ever had questions. We absolutely loved our trip to Vieques, and this was in large part thanks to Mason and his apartment. I highly recommend any Vieques visitors stay in one of Mason's apartments - you won't be disappointed! And if you're the semi-adventurous type, explore the island by scooter - it's awesome!
Mason was a great host. He was very easy to communicate with and went out of his way to help us when we arrived. The place is located about 10 min from the ferry and was easy to find. He has a couple of apts but we stayed in the back one which we found very comfortable. He had plenty of sheets and towels and had some extra stuff in the room like after sun skin care products and speakers to plug in your music device of choice. It was easy to catch rides on the publicos towards Esperanza or whatever your desired location is. The Main Street in Isabel was just minutes away from the apt and was very convenient. I would definitely stay again.
Mason was above and beyond helpful, and his apartment is perfectly charming. The beer, water and juice in the fridge was an especially nice touch. Mason has great recommendations about places to go on the island, and is as hands on/hands off as you want him to be. We had an amazing time on Vieques, and we would definitely stay in Mason's apartment again.
Simon's place is awesome - clean, comfortable, cool (which is a big deal in Puerto Rico), and Simon himself was the best host we've encountered via airbnb. He was always available via text, and ready to answer any questions we had. One of the ferries broke down before we were scheduled to arrive and he contacted us to make sure we were aware of the possible hiccup in travel plans. We also we unable to rent a car due to booking our trip rather late, but he contacted a friend of his that rents cars from time to time and was able to secure us a car for the duration of our trip. He ALSO stocked our friends with water, beer, and snacks. There were clean bath towels and two beach towels, plus a cooler, umbrella, and a couple of beach chairs. He made our stay so comfortable and easy. We really cannot thank him enough.
He also recommend we check out a new restaurant a couple of blocks from our place called Coqui Fire. It was so good that we went twice. Call for a reservation to snag a seat outside on the patio!
Thanks for everything, Mason! We hope to be back one day.
This apartment rocks. It is adorable, clean, down-to-earth and close (but not too close) to downtown. It's perched on a hill and thus lives up to its street name of Buena Vista. The internet worked great and we were even able to stream videos without issues.
Mason was a wonderful and courteous host. He not only stocked the fridge and provided maps with a simply written but very informative guide to the island, but he gave us a wealth of information in-person and via email. He recommended a not-too-touristy bioluminescence tour with a guide who was an absolute riot. I'd definitely recommend staying here.
Mason was a fantastic host. We enjoyed our stay in Vieques a lot and a big part is becasue of his help and how much we liked the studio. The place is very comfortable and better than what the description tells you. It is modeslty but sufficiently equipped and it is one of the cleanest I have experienced with airbnb.
Mason is extremely nice in communication and we were quite lucky that he was around during our visit. We had not managed to find a rental car and he was extremely nice to ask around and find us a car that we used.
I cannot recommend him and the apartment any stronger and I just wish we could have stayed longer.
Our stay at Mason's was an experience to remember. The location on the hill allows for a breathtaking view of the town and ocean. The area is very nice and we felt very safe. It's easy, walking distance to anything you may need (laundry, supermarkets, bars and restaurants, etc). The apartment was lovely and clean and was thoughtfully stocked with snorkeling gear, aloe, many fresh towels, brochures and maps, Trivial Pursuit, a fridge filled with delicious ground Puerto Rican coffee, bottled water, beer, and snacks, etc. The fan provided cool, comfortable sleep and the bed was very cozy. Mason was very accommodating to our needs and took good care to provide a beautiful experience. Thank you so much and we hope to stay with you again in the future!
Mason's place is pretty magical. It's on top of this hill in Isabela II and has a beautiful view of the water and the hillside on the balcony. We spent a week there and had an amazing time, you can walk to all the stores, restaurants and bars. There's a parking spot for you. Full kitchen was great since we were there for a week and didn't want to go out for every meal. And Mason is one of the best hosts I've ever encountered. He is full of recommendations and where to avoid, super helpful in every way. We would see him out around town and talk to him for a while; he's a really great guy. We miss our little penthouse apartment a lot.
Mason is a great host. He provided us with lots of information about getting around the island, where to go for the best beaches and places to eat/drink, and had beach items available for us to borrow.
The apartment was great! It was clean, had everything we needed, and was in a perfect location! I would not only stay there again, but would be happy to recommend it to friends.
Tip: As Mason mentions in the description, everyone's windows are open at night - actually, they cannot be closed. If you are a light sleeper, I recommend bringing ear plugs. I did, and slept with no issues.
Mason was great! Couldn't have asked for someone better. I highly recommend this tenant.
Mason spent a month with us and what a pleasure it was having him. He of course took to Cape Town like a duck to water and being the outdoor type he swam, walked, jogged and cycled all over Cape Town.
Quiet, beautiful manners and interested in everything around him, Mason quickly became part of the family and as he mentioned in his review, loved afternoon tea.
The month went far too quickly and we sincerely hope that you will come back to Cape Town and pop in for a cup of tea or stay with us again. Neil & Odette
It was a pleasure having you.
Mason was a very clean and respectful guest and is welcome back at anytime.
