"PhD student and would-be globe-trotter from London.
I'm writing my doctoral dissertation on international humanitarian organisations in the interwar years, and feel incredibly lucky that doing so has given me so many opportunities to travel to new places (and archives). I'm currently based in the US for five months, until November 2012. After a stint back in the UK, I'll be travelling again for research in early 2013, this time in South Africa. My other favourite research destination so far has been Geneva, where I've spent several months since starting my PhD in 2010.
When not tracking down archives, backpacking in Africa is my ideal trip away. My boyfriend Simon and I spent three wonderful weeks last year exploring Mozambique and Zimbabwe, and a week trekking the Atlas mountains in Morocco. We're also keen runners, so if we can fit holidays around marathons, all the better!"
