First of all, Shawn's place was already in a mess when we got there- there were ants in the fridge, the trash was full, towels were left on the floor of the bathroom etc. After communicating with him, I found out that Shawn does not clean or have anyone clean up the place in between guests- which means guests share sheets with one another and I'm sure if the guests knew about this, they wouldn't be too happy about it. Second, I was angry because of multiple reasons-
1. We arrived at Shawn's place on the date we book the place and found out that there was complete power failure. Because of this, the entire crew ended up waiting outside the apt for almost 2 hours in the dark.
2. He then promised to refund us the amount we paid and offered us a free day to shoot, and later revoked his words and decided not to refund us. Our cost doubled because of that day where there was no power in his place (which wasn't our fault AT ALL).
3. Shawn was very quick to judge us- he quickly assumed that it was our fault that his apt was out of power when indeed they never paid the bill.
All in all, Shawn's response to the situation was very unprofessional- he may have many good reviews on his page but when faced with a difficult situation, he is a mess. This is the first time I have ever dealt with such incompetence on airbnb. Needless to say, I will NEVER deal with Shawn again.
