The listing price is for one person with extra charge for any extra people.
We gave them a super cheap deal (based on the rate for one person) with an extra 15 euros a night for the second and they were charged the price for a shared space (with us) when in fact apart from one night they had the entire place to themselves for the duration of their stay. They were happy to take that at no extra charge.
But when I pointed out the cleaning fee of 35 euros, they hadn't read it in the listing and became annoyed. I felt it was very tacky when they got such an amazing deal for having a two storey loft to themselves for most of their stay for the price of a shared stay which is a lot less to then complain about a 35 euro cleaning fee for their linen after they leave.
The cleaning fee is written on two separate sections in plain black and white for all to see. We don't put through the actual booking and ask that guests pay it in cash upon arrival simply because airbnb then takes a fee from that and then the guests and we pay more for something so small it's not worth it.
We keep the fee to a bare minimum just to cover the pressing costs of the linen not our time.
Kimberley had dropped a 500 euro note in the apartment and was completely oblivious to it but because we're honest it was given immediately back to her. To then complain about a 35 euro cleaning fee that was transparent and always in the listing is I find very disappointing indeed.
Thank you for your email. I'm glad you enjoyed it. The windows do take a bit of effort but every single one of them does lock. They are old so the locks need a bit more effort to put into place. Thank you for your feedback and glad you enjoyed your stay.
Thank you Catherine. I'm glad you had a great time and that you see the flat is super safe and comfortable for guests. Very happy to have had you both there. Thank you for taking the time to review it as you saw it.
This flat is completely safe.
I have had over 80 people staying in this flat all with cameras, computers, ipads and phones they leave there while out sight seeing. I have NEVER had a single theft reported or any break in to the apartment.
My reviews on airbnb speak for themselves when it comes to safety and a good reputation.
You and I both know that I have done everything I can to help you on this but none of this adds up. I never checked your bags, I took your word for it. I don't know if this was some insurance scam you were trying on. It would explain why you didn't want to try find my mac and find my ipad apps in front of me to locate the equipment when I asked.
It also might explain why I never saw a police report when i repeatedly asked you for one so I could try to help you through the apartment's insurance.
I came to your aid immediately to investigate and we saw that nobody had broken in, there was no damage to windows or doors.
There are two scenarios: someone climbed in the window which is highly unlikely as it's up three floors but if they did (without damage) it means you didn't lock them. And I know that to be true because when I went there in front of you I checked and told you they were not locked.
Second scenario was that you brought someone in of your own free will during the night back to the apartment and they left in the night through the front door with your goods. I have heard of this happening to people before.
Both of these scenarios are the only possibilities as I am the only other person with a key and I would never ever jeopardise a long running successful listing here nor my guest's safety. The cleaner doesn't have a key. I let her in and I let her out as you already know.
I did everything I could to help you but your unwillingness to provide me police report, your refusal to try the find my mac etc apps in front of me and my silliness in not checking your bags to make sure it wasn't an insurance scam where I am the scapegoat so you can make a claim, leaves me cold.
I also cannot be held responsible if you decide to bring someone home or leave windows or doors unlocked inviting theft into your space.
I'm horrified you've chosen to attempt to turn the blame on me and try to ruin my absolute 100 per cent brilliant reputation for looking after guests in this flat because of your foolishness.
Not very fair at all.
