Ex-Publican (recently). Motorhome Owner (even more recently). Traveller (as often as possible).
Lover of good food, wine and the odd bit of football.
Perfect location, nice flat. We stayed there for two nights. The interior design makes it very comfortable. The bedroom, bathroom and livingroom were nice'. The kitchen on the other hand could have been cleaner.
The apartment was exactly like in the photos, if not better! Great location! The apartment was really clean & homely! Bed were super comfortable, & the decor is lovely. I would definitely use this apartment again. Great communication from Allan. Thanks for the excellent stay, I love Edinburgh & love this apartment! And after a long 5 hour train from London, was excellent walking distance from the station & everything else to be fair. Win win situation!
Allan was a gracious host and we enjoyed our rather long (one month) stay in the apartment!
Allan was flexible with letting us leave our bags as we were checking in early and the cleaner did a good job in ensuring the place was neat and tidy. We particularly fell in love with the window seat in the lounge area - it's got a great view of High Street. The kitchen facilities were also good - gas cooker and oven with everything you need. Also, the internet was speedy (which after having been to a few places where it crawls) was greatly appreciated!
The location of the place is good for seeing Edinburgh- it's right on the royal mile so it's a 10-15 minute walk to the top (to Victoria Street and towards the castle) and a 10-15 minute walk down the street to Hollyrood Palace and towards Arthur's Seat. Sometimes there was noise from the street below on Saturday nights but the curtains help and it's a bit of a side effect of the convenient location. There's also lots of nice places to eat nearby as well (some of our recommendations include Monteiths, Southern Cross Cafe and Wiski Inn). We also found the different bus stops less than 5 minutes walk away very helpful, including one across and up the road which goes directly to the airport and the one near the doorstep which will take you to Leith.
Overall, we loved staying in Allan's place and will definitely try to book in again when we next come to Edinburgh. :)
This apartment is on the Royal Mile. Five minutes walk from Waverley Station - very convenient for all touristy things. The apartment is reasonably furnished, and if the heating is on - quite cosy. I arrived to a cold apartment (it had apparently been unheated for a few days, and had become cold - it was the end of Janaury!) which took a day or so to properly warm up. The windows are single glazed.
The apartment is situated on the first floor, over a pub. There was no noise (that I noticed) from the pub, however the street noise is very noticeable. There was quite a lot of traffic noise, and plenty of shouting in the street at night. This kept me awake for some hours, and marred what would otherwise have been a comfortable stay.
Alan met me on the first day - and seemed a reasonable chap. he left some fruit and biscuits - not sure if he does that with everyone - but it was a nice touch.
Right on the Royal Mile, the location is perfect. Allan's flat is clean and comfortable. I highly recommend it to you guys.
This is a great apartment, less than 10 minutes walk from the train station and so convenient for everything. It's also really nicely furnished, with a decent shower and good supplies in the kitchen. Also there was milk and fruit left for us, which was lovely.
It can be a bit noisy at night as the windows are original and single-glazed, but that's really no price to pay for such a central location. And even on a cold January trip it was toasty warm.
I was there with my family, we had a great time. The place was really spacious, well decorated, and with a lot of facilities, such as some drinks and food in the fridge. The central heating and the wifi worked wonderfuly. It is great located, near by pubs, restaurants, supermarkets, typical Edinurgh's shops, churchs, and really close to a castle. We are also very grateful for Alan's (the owner) hospitaly, who gave us a really warm welcome.
Hope we go buck to Edinburgh soon, and of course, to the same apartment!
Lovely flat in a great location- as central as it gets really.
Allan was very helpful and it was a breeze checking in and out
Allan's apartment was beautiful, right in the centre of Old Town Edinburgh. It was just a quick stroll to the castle and all the other main sights we wanted to see. The key exchange was quick and easy, and Allan made us feel very welcome with some milk and biccies on our arrival. A fantastic experience, would definitely book in again if we come back.
Our stay was very pleasant. The location was excellent - easy walking distance to many attractions and dining facilities. The apt had everything we needed for our 1 week stay. Host met us on our arrival to give us the key and a quick review of the apartment and how the heating etc worked.
