This was my second time staying in Kevin's place and I continue to love it. It's a wonderful, quiet, little escape cottage, rustic, warm (with space heaters) and charming with a great tiny kitchen and large back deck overlooking the Albion River and Valley. Great hiking trails and amazing beaches are near by, as is Mendocino Village, filled with nice restaurants and shops. The local Market—a three-minute walk away—is amazingly convenient as well. This is a great place to which to escape life. With it being an easy three-hour drive from San Francisco I hope to return soon...
What a wonderful weekend we had! The cottage was cozy and charming-- we loved it! Some highlights included: the match-light stove, the beautiful view from the back deck, the bathtub, the entryway plants, the morning light, and the collections. The neighborhood was quiet and the grocery store was convenient and had a great selection. Kevin was responsive and friendly. We partook of some of his recommended places to eat--Patterson's and Queenie's, and both were great. We also went to Sweetwater Spa one night in Mendocino to enjoy their redwood hot tubs. Wish we could have stayed longer.
The house was beautiful, entirely comform to the description. If there were not some modern supplies here and there, it would really feel like a trip back in time. We were looking for a quiet place to relax and so it was. We enjoyed a lot visiting the coast in Mendocino, just 10 miles from there. I would definitely go back there, don't hesitate one second if you're looking for a romantic place.
We look forward to having you as guests again soon, Francois...we're so happy you loved our humble cottage by the sea.
Kevin was great to work with (prompt & courteous)!
The place was darling and clean and perfect for two friends.
The tub was a treat and even the folks at the market were helpful and kind -and you're not kidding, it's like a 15 second walk.
Hi, Kelly ~
We are so happy that you loved the cottage, look forward to having you back soon!
Kevin was great in reaching out before the stay with house, restaurant and area details which really helped. Ours was a same day booking which made his efforts all that much more accomodating. The cottage is adorable with all the needed essentials to a quiet stay in a small village. The quiet and peaceful energy of the house with all it's details was perfect. It's a short drive to Elk, Fort Bragg and Mendocino for some daily exploring. Thanks Kevin for a great stay!!!
You are most welcome, Nathan!
Come back to Albion Cottage anytime...
My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our stay here. The historic cottage is thoughtfully decorated and cozy. We enjoyed creating (small) meals in the antique kitchen. The furniture was comfortable, the views from the back porch are charming, and the location in Mendocino County is great. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed the cottage's proximity to Mendocino, Fort Bragg and Anderson Valley vineyards. Albion is little, but there's a general store with everything you need right nearby. Kevin was very responsive when we had questions.
We had a wonderful stay in Albion. The cottage is rustic and peaceful, a lovely retreat. We would love to return.
Kevin was very responsive and communicative before our trip, including sending us great recommendations. The cottage is absolutely adorable! We had a wonderful stay and enjoyed the location of Albion as well as how close it is to Mendocino.
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time at Kevin and David's place. It was rustic with a lot of antique characteristics that made it feel cozy and unique. The house is very clean and well kept. We loved the large bath at night and view from the patio in the morning. The location is also ideal because it is so close to Anderson Valley as well as Mendo and Fort Bragg. I would recommend that if you are looking for a relaxing/rejuvenating vacation quickly book your stay at this lovely spot.
It was a nice spot, old-school interior, funky, and cozy. We liked it.
Kevin was a pleasure to have over. He was very easy to communicate with, left the place impecable, and was overall a very nice guy. Highly recommend.
Kevin was very thoughtful and helpful in communicating with us when he had to change plans at the last minute. We really appreciated his conscientiousness in thinking about us and our plans while trying to figure out his at the same time.
The very first time I met Kevin and David was the night my husband proposed. Kevin and David went out of their way to help my husband (who they had only recently become acquainted with) plan a beautiful surprise.
The first 6 months of our marriage were wrought with business and family problems and Kevin urged us to schedule our Albion weekend (his and David’s wedding gift to us).
And boy was he right! The moment we arrived at the cottage and took in the clean brisk coastal air we felt the stress melt away. We stepped inside and were transported to a time and place where we finally became two carefree newlyweds exploring our surroundings covered with centuries-old artwork, vintage furniture and collections, and nature.
Kevin and David have found and beautifully maintained a coastal retreat, a haven away from the mundane routine of a stressful life. They understand what a luxury peace of mind is and offer it to their guests.
Kevin is an incredibly generous man and he always makes sure you feel at home. My husband and I have stayed at he and David's Albion home and it is just beautiful. We felt so at home! Kevin came in and cooked for us for an entire day and the food was really incredible meal. Breakfast consisted of banana walnut waffles and fresh fruit and juices and a side of chicken apple sausage. It was all organic and wonderful. At our request, he returned and dinner consisted of fresh pork tenderloin with a sherry/apricot sauce, fresh greens, garlic mashed potatoes and for dessert----get this---homemade chocolate eclairs! What a fantastic meal! We will definitely be returning!
Kevin and I met through mutual friends and instantly hit it off as we share a love of nature, good food and our beloved DOGS! I have stayed at Kevin's Albion cottage several times and have always found Kevin to be fantastic to deal with. He is prompt and responsive in his communications, he is honest and easy going, and he is responsible and has great follow through.
Kevin is an incredibly generous, thoughtful, caring and therapeutic individual. I got to know him through our nursing program at ARC and enjoyed having him as a fellow classmate. In addition to his wonderful patient care, Kevin has amazing taste in home decor, beautiful gardening skills, and bakes the most delicious treats!
