I had a great time staying at Kevin's place for a week during New Years. It was clean & close to the A & 1 train. Kevin was an excellent host. The apartment is spacious. Close to restaurant, supermarket & bars. Its located in a quiet street. I would definitely stay there again.
Property as described and reviewed.
Host had contact meet us as agreed upon and met us at end to obtain key.
Neighborhood safe and as described.
Host left useful tourist info.
My experience was overall good. Kevin was a friendly guy that was really helpful when we needed him the most. He responded via email, text and phone call to all our questions in a fast manner and we appreciated that. The apartment had all the basic commodities that a group of 3 would've need and relativiley clean. However, we as a family thought that the cleanliness wasn't the best. The fact that the apartment isn't change a bit because a renter is coming, can be good to some people and bad to others. For us, we thought that when other person is going to rent your place, doesn't want to see other peoples toothbrushes and other personal belongings completely visible. Lastly, we saw little insects inside the apartment in the kitchen on multiple occasions and honestly we didn't mind at first but at the end it became a little too much. I would recommend this listing but strongly suggest more in depth cleaning among the bathroom, living room and kitchen area.
Great location - next door to the park, and 25 mins from midtown via the subway. The apartment is very nice, and is conveniently up just one flight of stairs. We had a great time, and Kevin is a great, friendly host, and he has good local knowledge regarding local restaurants and such.
I reserved for two friends of mine from california, really last minute. everything went smooth, good communication and my friends loved the stay. thank you
To anyone who want's to stay in New York with a not too expensive price, Kevin's place is perfect.
Kevin gives clear instructions to nearby areas and super friendly.
The location is very convenient too, 5 minutes to the subway station and less than half an hour to Grand Central.
Highly Recommend it.
We stayed at Kevin's apartment in the Inwood neighborhood for three nights in late July 2013. Kevin was a friendly and gracious host--walked us around the apartment to show us everything, made sugggestions about restaurants around the neighborhood, etc. He even has maps and umbrellas for guests to use! He was available by phone and text throughout our stay, pleasant and accommodating about arrival and departure times.
As for the apartment-- Kevin's place is by far the most comfortable one in NYC that we have stayed in through Airbnb.
Both my husband and I got the flu while on this trip and his apartment was comfy for just lying around recuperating. It is on the 2nd floor of an elevated--repeat, elevated--building. Almost all of the other apartments we have stayed in have been 4th-floor walkups and believe me, elevated is a lot easier if you have bags to carry. In addition, the apartment is very clean.
As for the neighborhood-- safe, leafy, quiet, Kevin's apartment looks out on a park, interesting ethnic restaurants a block away, the express A-train going downtown gets you to Columbus Circle in 20 minutes, the Village in less than 40. The subway station is only 2 blocks from Kevin's place. Fort Tryon Park and the Cloisters are right near the subway station.
In summary, I'd say even if your activities in NYC are all downtown, this is a quiet, comfortable place that is a better value than anything you'll find in other neighborhoods. Getting downtown is easy if you allow just a little extra time.
Staying at Kevin's apartment was wonderful. We were very comfortable and slept so well! I believe Inwood park across the street creates silence that balances the intensity of running around in the city. The apartment was comfortable, spacious. The shower is great! The kitchen is spacious and well equiped, with a modern stove, fridge and a dishwasher. The apartment is larger than what it looks like in the photos, the living room is completely separarate from the bedroom by a long corridor. We were three people, a couple and my sister, and could have a lot of privacy. Kevin is a great host, attentive to our needs, and made himself available for anything, including tips and suggestions on what to do. By the time we left he felt like a friend. The communications are good, the A train a few minutes away. Bus service to the East side, close to many other options, including up to Westchester County, New Haven, etc.
kevin was very communicative and clear in his needs for a 10-day rental. i would be glad to rent to him in the future. unfortunately, we did not get to meet kevin personally, maybe next time.
