I am an ecologist who loves travelling, nature, hiking, photography, music, art, museums, galleries and reading. Five things I can't live without are good coffee, music, books, freedom and adventure (though not in that order).
My favourite travel destinations are hard to list as almost everywhere has been great and special in its own way, but I do love Europe and keep coming back to France in particular. In Asia, Japan is a favourite - it's fascinating in every respect and a really enjoyable place to travel. Malaysia is also amazing - the biological diversity and national parks are fantastic. I've never been to a country I haven't found interesting though.
I love good wine and food, especially Thai, Indian and Malaysian (though they're better with beer than wine), and French and Italian. My favourite restaurant is Tetsuya's, this guy is a true alchemist, who fuses French, Japanese and Australian cuisine into something all his own.
My taste in music is diverse, I like electronic/alternative/dance/ambient such as Trentemoller, Sigur Ros, Schnauss, Lindstrom, but also love jazz, alternative rock and blues, classical and even well-done pop.
As a guest, I am clean, tidy, reliable and responsible - but not as boring as that probably makes me sound - I just like to look after things as I would like people to look after them if they were mine. My style of travelling is independent: I like to meet locals and spend a while getting to know a place, its culture and landscape, and tend to avoid crowds.
My life motto? Life is too complex for a motto!
