Suhaib's place was awesome and he was a great host! The room was huge and beautiful and the terrace was amazing. It felt like our own little apartment within the apartment. The whole place was super-clean and a pleasure to be in. And the location was perfect!
Because it was a short stay (2 nights) and we both had busy weekends planned, we didn't get to spend too much time with Suhaib - but he was great at keeping in contact beforehand and the key drop off was really easy - he gave us the perfect run down of the details of the apartment, clean towels etc and we felt really comfortable in his presence/place.
Would definitely reccommend!
We had a great time staying at Suhaib's apartment. It is perfectly located, the bed is very comfortable, and Suhaib is the perfect host. It was our first trip to NY and this was a great base to explore all the city has to offer. The apartment is beautifully decorated and the shower and bed are the best! Suhaib gave us a list of must-visit locations and guidance on where to eat and drink, he made some great recommendations and was always available to help out with any questions we had. He's a really great host and made our first Airbnb and first New York experience a fantastic one.
I had a fantastic visit to New York staying with Suhaib at his apartment. Here is why:
Location - perfect , in the east village with plenty of restaurants and nice bars so after a days sightseeing it was great to have a quiet or loud beer and food. Many of NYs other great areas are very close- west village , soho, china town, the high line, lower east, nolita, little Italy , Washington Park, Union Square.
Midtown and Uptown very easy to get to, either by the subway which is very close by, by cab - 10 to 15 bucks.
Also there are several citibike stands close to this apartment which means you can easily get a bike. It's a great system 24 bucks for a week and you can grab a bike from any of the hundreds of stands around town and drop off as well. I did a lot of my sightseeing and shopping by bike. It was easy, a great way to see New York. Not dangerous but you need your wits about you like anywhere. Helmets not required by law but you could bring yours or buy a cheap one in NY if you wish.
The apartment - 1st floor walk up, so not loads of steps. The great thing is the room is big for NY standards and has a flower filled large balcony overlooking the street that you can access from a door in the room. Great for morning coffee or evening drink. Suhaib made space in the wardrobe and chest of drawers, provided brand new sheets and two new white towels.- perfect. Room has comfy bed, and aircon, Bose iPod dock, alarm clock , big t v, not that I got time to watch it and pictures of his flat mates teaching travels in Africa.
The kitchen is very well equipped for cooking and has a nice big fridge for your drink and food. Suhaib was generous with his snacks and drinks though I ate out a lot and brought stuff in too.
Bathroom is very clean and easy to use.
Lounge room has a couch and TV if you need extra space
The street is pretty quiet at night considering it is St Marks place and I slept we'll though light sleepers may want to use ear plugs
The host - Suhaib was excellent - clear communication and instructions to arrange and meet up, great tips on places to go, eat, transport etc - may I add the Fiat Cafe in Nolita for a fresh pasta lunch and great coffee and love atmosphere. Also throughout my stay he was courteous , helpful, flexible and not intrusive . He also answered a few questions I had during the day by text.
All in all I was very happy here, location was a dream as it was so easy to get to so much from here and of course east village is great. Suhaib was helpful and the flat was very comfortable.
A true New Yorker, full of vitality, dynamic, friendly and kind, it was a pleasure to have him here!
Suhaib is not a family member but he's one of my best friends and we look like twins. I've known Suhaib and his roommate Matt for over 5 years. They're both outstanding guys. They're respectful housemates that keep a warm, clean and welcoming home. Whether you just rent a room in their apartment or actually get to hang out with them, they'll do their best to make your NYC experience a pleasant one.
Suhaib and I have been friends for a few years. He is one of the greatest people I know. He is extremely personable, detail oriented and caring. Just a few great experiences that I have had with Suhaib has been cooking dinner for the holidays for a group of friends in which we co-hosted. He is extremely thoughtful and whomever stays at his home as a guest will have a great experience. The apartment is super cute with rooms that are the perfect size, cozy and comfortable. The terrace is the highlight of this NYC apt. as it overlooks the tree-lined quiet street. It is also beautifully decorated with gorgeous flowers, so eating al freso (whether it be breakfast, lunch or dinner) is a huge plus. Especially when you are visiting on a budget and don't want to spend a lot of money eating out. Whatever you are looking for, I think the host and the apartment are a great choice here on AIRBNB. Happy Traveling :)
