The Cozy Cabin began as a wood storage building because I knew I would be heating with wood the rest of my life. Good contractor friends pointed out my need to turn the log post and beam structure into my home. Straw bale construction was decided upon for ease of construction and enormous insulation value. Recycled windows, marble slabs and left-over garden stones were collected and fashioned into the home. The maple flooring was also milled from an old tree that was shading my garden.
By trade I am a landscape architect... so by default I am an avid gardener... creating pockets of color and opportunities for edibles throughout the property. I love to experiment with native berries and veggies from the garden.
I currently live in the shop... shared with my dog, Smooch, and a couple cats. Smooch loves kids and at almost 100 lbs... he thinks he should be a lap dog!!!
HOWEVER... Smooch is hit or miss with other dogs... so please no dogs during you stay.
My place has slowly transformed into a wedding, music and seminar venue. Moon Mountain Lodge is the name. Our motto is... " Tread Lightly & Enjoy Living ." If you decide to check into the cabin... bring a pair of hiking boots... and/or a good book... WELCOME...!!!
