The location was wonderful without a doubt. And the room did look like the photo. There was little natural light and it was noisy at night from the restaurant below. The key to the room didn't fit properly and locking it was tricky. The website had check in at 3pm, her email said 4 pm, and after waiting for half an hour after that we had to ring as no one had turned up to let us in. The woman who came wasn't Marie Christina and had no knowledge of which room was booked and kept offering us the room with a shared bath. They wanted city tax payment in advance, and didn't have change. We were then expected to find them at another location later and pay (website hidden) didn't work and they didn't try and address this problem. Their power points didn't take a standard plug adapter and their hair dryer didn't fit any of the power outlets in the room.
The location is exactly as advertised, one minute walk and you are in the main piazza. However, the room is next to the street (and on street level), so the noise transferred in without much help from the historical window. The bathroom, as commented by the previous guest, has issues. The shower pan has drainage issue and remain unfixed until now, so you shower in a piddle of water. The water heater doesn't function very well, it overheated and all the sudden shut down and goes back on. Temperature is very unstable, I had sudden splash of cold water and had to go through several of this cycles to finish my shower, not pleasant for cold night in this season. I hope these could be fixed soon for future guest, but I have doubt. Since the contact on AirBnB doesn't speak English, and never replied to all of our emails and messages through Airbnb. I ended up reporting to AirBnB this non responsive issues. I will not recommend this one unless for those don't need to shower.
What an incredible place. If you go to Siena to experience a medival city then this is the place to stay. An apartment full of old beams and arches, it was spacious and on a very picturesque street. My one caveat would be that although it was on the street level, there were many steps inside the apartment itself so you should be aware of that if you have any mobility issues. But try to stay there if you want the experience of being in a home that is hundreds of years old, yet has present day amenities.
This apartment is in a fabulous location to explore wonderful Siena. We had to park our car outside the old quarter & get a taxi to accommodation. The Cathedral was spectacular, one of the best we have visited. The room we had was reasonably daggy in decor but clean. The big let down was the difficulty we had with access to our room. We had tried to contact Maria by email & phone several times before arrival with no success. So we drew out our day to arrive at 3pm which was stated on our booking sheet that if not previously organised , book in between 3pm & 7pm. When we arrived we stood outside the building with another couple of tired women for 1.5 hrs not knowing whether we would ever get in . They had tried to phone with no answer. Eventually a local led us to her shop around the corner . Finally tired & cranky Maria arrived with no acknowledgement or apology ???
We had high hopes for this place but in the end we were disappointed. The Good: The apartment itself is located close the south parking garage and the town square. The towels and sheets were clean and apartment itself was fairly clean. The Bad: As you walk in, you can’t help but notice the over powering smell of mildew. The shower curtain was moldy, the utensils were dirty along with hair in the drawer. The kitchen trash can was so dirty we wouldn't touch it. I don’t know if the bathroom floor was full of water due to the small shower being open on three sides or if the toiled leaks. Either way it was not pleasant using the toilet standing in a puddle. There was wifi but the second night the log on keep asking for a paypal account to continue. We also found the host/assistant unresponsive to some emails and somewhat aloof when we called upon our mandatory scheduled arrival. All things considered, If we were to return to Siena we would not stay here again.
The location of the flat is very central and easy for the main piazza. The flat is nice, tidy and typical of italian decor. It is a little noisy at night but that goes with the central location. All in all very good
The location of this Palazzo is just wonderful! It took us one minute to walk down to Il Campo. This is not a private home, though, as there were a couple of rooms.
There were two lovely Italian ladies who let us in, though we had some problems understanding each other. Unfortunately there were no breakfast served. The room was nice and clean, with a bathroom shared with others.
An advice is that you've got to have plenty of time reaching this destination. It was hard for us to find a good and cheap parking place (we payed 2 € an hour throughout the night!) and it took a while to find where to go.
Two of us stayed in this apartment for three nights in June 2014. The location is sensational - merely walk from both Il Campo and Il Duomo. Great eating places around the apartment and also grocery and fruit stores.
We have stayed in apartments for our entire trip through Europe and I will have to say that that this is the least well appointed and maintained. It is ok but only just. The hot water is not regular and constant so your hot shower becomes a cold one. And the internet Wi-Fi was erratic at best. Karin did get best to attend to the WiFi issue and while it did improve after Karin dropped off a new modem, it still wasn't a regular connection.
I would recommend the apartment for a short stay (2-3 days). I think anything longer than that, the problems well become very annoying.
