I had a fantastic time staying at Tova's place and meeting her. Tova is very kind and extremely knowledgable. She even invited me to a Shabbat dinner which was my first time and it was one of the highlights of my trip.
Her place is centrally located in the Old City and near Jaffa Gate. A short 5-minute walk to the Western Wall. Right in the middle of everything yet it's on a quiet street so it doesn't feel too touristy.
Really just a great experience. Thanks Tova!!
Tova was at home when we arrived, the location is beautiful located nearby the Hurva Synagoge and the Western Wall. She helped us findig our way arround and was really interested in us. If you don't mind having cats arround its a wonderful place and and Tova is a wonderful host! What you read on Airbnb about Tova and her place is absolutely the right discription! Wifi worked verry good.
I could not have asked for a better host. She truly made my stay worthwhile.
The location truly cannot be beaten, as well.
I will use this as a benchmark for future stays.
Awww, thanks, buddy!
It was very nice to stay at Tova apartments.
The flat is situated in the very center of the Old City in the Jewish Quarter, 5 minutes walk to the Western Wall. However, the place is very calm, far from Arabic market-like shops, human crowds, etc. The Jewish Quarter itself seems to be most quiet and safe place in all Jerusalem.
The room is a bit small, but it looks nice. It is also possible to use the main room and the kitchen at convenient time. All facilities are clean. Due to cold weather and rain, Tova provided a powerful electric heater; it was really kind action, having in mind its energy consumption and huge prices for electricity in Israel.
The kitchen is Kosher, it means guests cannot cook there by themselves and cannot bring meat. However, it is not a problem (for us): it is possible to buy and store good milk-based food, cheese, wine, fruits, pastries from nice shops in the neighborhood. There are also some good places to eat in the Old City, in the close vicinity.
Tova is a very hospitable host. She is ready to help to plan your trips and to make good advises about interesting places. She is ready to share her deep knowledge about Israel, Jerusalem and its history, she knows many secret places far from traditional tourist routes. Tova is very kind and open. When our child was ill, she was ready to provide all necessary help and assistance. In addition to being a professional guide, she also works as a volunteer in ambulance and she saves cats -- very respectful.
To conclude, I have got good impressions about Jerusalem and Israel. Despite snow and cold rain, everything was nice, calm and positive. I believe these impressions are based on very positive and friendly environment we found at Tova apartments.
P.S.: The only point is cats. There are some cats there, and they feel free to move in the house. If you are tolerant, you will like them and find them funny, as our child. If you are allergic, it is better to find another place.
What a wonderful experience from Tova's apartment in the Jewish Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem!
History eking from every twisting, turning laneway. Sounds and chatter of people making their way around the quarters, whether it is on a tour or locals discussing news of visiting family-the mind wanders away to another time.
The old city is as vibrant and living now as it has been over its 1000's of years history. To experience this you need to be in-situ, morning-noon and night! Being minutes from everything is a must, when you want to learn of the history of the city, but also fall under its charms-today! Tova's place is where want to be situated.
Whether its the call to prayers at Mosques, sounds of Church bells or the Hebrew being spoken on the way to the Wailing Wall- you will be enlivened. With so much to see it is important to have a good base, close enough so that you can schedule the many events, but have the ability to briefly rest your feet if need be....before headn out again to the smells and sights of the variety of food stalls, cafes and restaurants.
Importantly, you need the interpretation of a local who knows why; the Old City retains a place for pilgrims around the world, this especially so for Jewish people. Those who live there and those that visit, Tova mixes in all circles. If you are fortunate and willing to see city on one of Tova's 'walkabouts' to provide welfare to the city's cats- you will find yourself on rooftops, with views unequalled. The stories of the city are brought alive by the historical, the present and by Tova- an Government Accredited, experienced Israeli Tour Guide for 20 years. Tova shares her home and passion for her observant Jewish identity.
Tova takes the time to listen, question and engage with you to best give you the measure of your time in the area. More importantly, if you step out of tourist mode, trust-and 'go with the flow'. You might find yourself in the underground tunnels of the Wailing Wall or at the table on Shabbat, with the warmth of hospitality of a local family....that will leave you humbled and moved for a life time.
With the Armenian, Christian and Moselm quarters doorsteps away. Through the ancient Cardo or alleyway bizzars, the more you will be consumed the narrative you'll come to know about their relationship today and in the past the Jewish people have for this ancient contradiction.
It really is a case of Location, Location- Location. This is Jerusalem which has hospitality and the curio of the vibrant pulse of a city and its Cats!
I had a great comfy bed in my own room, a hot shower WiFi...it was all I needed.
Tova's hospitality and assistance with my departure re transport was essential and without the assistance of a local on Shabbat (Friday afternoon to Saturday afternoon)-could have peril-some. Thank you so much.
Това - очень обаятельный и интересный человек. Очень жаль, что у нас было мало времени для общения. Това работает гидом и может много рассказать интересного про Иерусалим.
Great location, very hospitable, exceeded expectations. Would recommend and stay again.
Tova was a great host! Excellent conversation, very caring, a wealth of information about the city and its comings and goings. The room was warm and comfortable. Not just a place to stay but I felt really well hosted. Excellently taken care of!
You'll love staying at Tova's place in the old city. Tova is friendly and adventurous and she knows everything there is to know about Jerusalem and Israel. She loves to share her knowledge with everyone so it will make your stay in the old city, even more incredible. I just spent a month staying at her house and I loved it. The room is comfortable and cozy and just the right space for a holiday spot. Tova LOVES cats and if you enjoy playing with rescued cats and kittens, then you'll like this place even more. I highly recommend staying at Tova's place or hiring her as your tour guide.
