I live in Helotes, TX (just outside of San Antonio) with my husband, Robert, son Casey (born Nov 2011), and our two dogs (Cash and Dylan). Robert and I got married in January od 1996 during my last year of school at UT Austin when I was pursuing my Mechnical Engineering Degree. We live on 5 acres in the Hill Country and love to travel. We are a very active family. I train for triathlons (just sprint and Olympic distance; I'm not that crazy) so exercise 6 days a week either swimming, running, cycling, or weight-lifting. I work Southwest Research Institute and am the Assistant Director for the Space Science Department (~120 employees). I am currently the Instrument Suite Systems Engineering for a mission called Magnetospheric Multiscale (MMS). There are 4 spacecraft that will launch in 2014 and orbit the earth. The instrument suite is a group of science instruments that are going to study the Earth's magnetosphere and its interaction with the Solar Wind. There are companies from all over the world contributing to this mission (Japan, Switzerland, Denmark, Austria, etc). Robert works at Color Spot Nurseries as a Sales Rep for Home Depots. He spends his days working outside setting up plants so stays in good shape since he doesn't have to sit behind a desk all day like me! Our son, Casey loves the outdoors and traveling. We've already been to Florida twice, Colorado 3 times, and England once since he joined our family in November 2008. I was born in England and Casey was able to meet his great grandparents in 2010. Our vacations usually involve outdoor activities (hiking, etc). Casey learned to ski in Breckenridge in January of 2012. We have been staying in vacation rentals for a few years as they are much nicer than hotels, we enjoy the extra space, and also tend to be more reasonably priced.
